IT IS THE REAL DEAL!!!!Took it to the coin shop today and they said it is geniune. With the eyelet and the "amount of wear" it ruined the value of it as a "coin". I asked about removing the eye and the guy got cocky and said that it wouldn`t matter because of the wear. Ole lady wouldn`t let me argue so we left. BUT WE LEFT HAPPY!!! Hit the jeweler on the way home and it weighs 4.2 grams. Oh, the coin shop said they would gladly pay me (said it 3 times) $67.00 for the price of the gold. We said NO THANKS!!
heres 2 pics--does it look worn??Looks real nice to me!!! ;Dhhbob

I don't know anything about grading a coin, but thought this information might be useful at some point, if only for insurance purposes.

PCGS # Description VF EF AU 60 62 63 64 65 66
7945 1913 195 240 275 365 675 1500 2850 9000 22500
The above information is from: http://www.coinfacts.com/

I also looked at completed sales on eBay and there was one that sold for $152.50 that looked like it had a gouge out of the throat on the indian head. One sold for $355.00 that had small marks on both sides. Another sold for $192.50 that looked like it had small scratches across the reverse. One that was only photographed at a tilt, like it was hiding something sold for $325.00. And one pair of earings made from a 1913 and a 1927 that sold for $355.00 and a 1913 like yours, on a cheap looking gold chain, (looks more like silver than gold compared to the coin in the same picture), that sold for $250.00 ,(so maybe having them made into jewelry doesn't totally kill the value).

You know that it's worth money when they offer to buy it more then once! He woulda been thinking $67 for the coin $40 for a cheap chain= $300 for me! OR He woulda just turned around and put it in the case for like $250. Thats just what I have seen around here anyways!

I still can't believe my eyes-thats an AWESOME coin!!!!!!!! Sofar that must be t-net coin of the year 2007!

Have fun,

congratulations!! i would never sell a coin without already knowing what i wanted for it. buyers are "treasure hunters" too. :(

but thats just the way it is. its a jungle out there. ;D

Thats a beauty. Congrats. Tsgman

Nice. It isn't worn ALL that badly. Still an awesome find in anyone's book. The coin guy was a jerk. One for getting cocky and two for getting cocky cuz you wouldn't let him rip you off. Congrats!

Take it to an honest jeweler and have the ring taken off. There isn't a darned thing wrong with that coin.
You should have told that guy he didn't know what he was taking about.
It's a beauty.

If you take the ring off, there will be a nasty solder mark on the rim, which will make is less valuable than with the ring on...

I don't think there was ever a question that you were going to keep it anyway, if I ever find a gold coin I'm never selling it no matter what!

I agree that if you buy a gold chain, the value of the coin with the chain as jewlery will be more than either of the two separately added together.
