After soaking the 5 mystery balls in vinegar to loosen the rust for a couple days. I picked some of the encrustations off and I noticed on a few of them the size is visibly different, in which throws a another wrench in the equation.

Things just don't add up..
- First thought they were ordinance of some kind, but they aren't iron.
- Then thought they were bearings of sorts, but bearings are uniform and do not vary in size nor have indentations.
- They were all found within 5 square feet of each other.
- Close proximity to a revolutionary war battle site.
- Ballast weights?

I may have to do a little more research on this, since now given the abnormalities in the size and the non-uniformness I am at a loss,

Where is cannonball guy when you need him? lol.

I was thinking grape shot, but you said they weren't iron. Don't know. Later Clyde

Some balls from a "ball mill" maybe? Ball mill is a drum containing metal balls used to crush something like ore to a powder.

:dontknow: round mysteries for sure, leave it to you to find the unusual!

Its a good possibility, however there is no record of the rock crushing plant at that location. There is one that is 7 miles down river however.
