Unknown design

This was my great grandfathers watch fob 14k gold from the late 1800's.
Have wondered about the design for years?
Thought it was Masonic at first and have some tell me it is and some tell me no?
If anyone could help I would appreciate it.
It's from St. Louis MO area.

I believe they're talking about the wax seals that people would use to seal letters.

Now that I look at it from another angle it looks to be Egyptian actually! What is a sudo seal?

Kathy (koolaidsmile) :-)

Sudo is just a name sometimes given to an object that copies something with out actually being it.

Thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth. The late 19th was the time that the discovery of Tutankamen's tomb was made by Mr. Carter and there was a very great interest in all things Egyptian. It was very common for decorative objects made in Europe and the Americas to have Egyptian motifs. Especially jewelry; are there any hallmarks on it other than 14k?
