Hey guys well I got another CW 3 ringer at the park. In the last 5 day I detected 3 times and each time I got a 3 ringer and just last week I would had never thought I would ever even find one. Then to top it off this one is deferent. It’s a .56 cal 5 star. I tried to look it up and couldn’t find that size caliber with the 5 star. All I could find was a .58 cal 5 star. If anyone can help me I’d truly appreciate it. They are all three different so that makes it a three trip trifecta!!! IMG_1426.JPGIMG_1429.JPGIMG_1430.JPGIMG_1432.JPG

He relic I was actually thinking about you when I was out there. I wanted to ask you how do you know what numbers a relic will ring up at? Like how do you know numbers for relics?

I don't put a lot of faith in vdi, I go more by sound. There are so many factors that can effect vdi, such as depth, ground condition, and the position of the target. I look more at the consistency of the number rather than the value.

Congrats on your run of 3 ringers ! Those are some great pieces of history.

Congrats AGAIN! You are all over the CW bullets.

Truth, you are killing it on the Minnie's. Well Done. Of all the Minnie balls I have dug through the years, I have yet to dig a star base. Very nice bullet. As said, you could possibly be onto a camp. Take your time there. Camps are where the better stuff comes from such as personal items such as buttons, carved bullets etc. If you were hunting with the AT PRO, mine would almost always hit on a solid 53 here in Georgia when I came across a Minnie ball. Keep at it man, you are doing great.

Here they’re hitting at 65-68. I’m now very interested in getting some relics. I have to learn a whole other way of detecting. Devldog my next obsession and I do mean obsession is a button. Who am I fooling ANYTHING with CW I want to rescue. I’m taking a week off to catch up on work, honey do’s, having long talks with my queen that doesn’t have to do with detecting or coins. My wife is such a good woman lol. Plus with this Storm coil I used for 24 hrs in the last week have my shoulders killing me I have to heal. I’ve been trying to research this park but can’t find anything on CW camps. The only thing I have is there was a Camp, Camp Nicholls, known as the "Old Soldiers Home" that was a haven for soldiers after the Civil War and World War II in New Orleans which is across the bayou about 200 yards away from this spot. Maybe they walked to the park and dropped them? I have no idea ugggh. My research experience isn’t up to par so any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you so much for the interest and support form you as well as all my TNet friends. I’m a lone wolf detectorist who doesn’t know anyone else in my world who detects. Lol I’m considering joining this club in January (again). I paid the entrance fee last January but never went to one meeting. My wife says I’m the most outgoing antisocial person she ever met. Thanks again buddy I need all the advice I can get and I’ll gratefully soak it up like a sponge.

Truth, just keep at it as you are going. It's great to talk with others who share the same interest of our History, and there are quite a few here. As far as research, sometimes you can go to the Historical Society and check with the records as to what may have taken place as far as CW camps, battles, hospitals, etc. in your area. Keep at it my friend, and the buttons will come. If you do a lot of hunting solo, and you wear headphones, always be aware of your surroundings depending on the area you are hunting. There was a horror story a few years back about a hunter in the Atlanta area, a place I used to hunt, but an area that is now raked with crime. The hunter was bent down digging a signal when some Thugs came up behind him and rendered him unconscious. When the hunter awoke, he was relieved of everything he had with him including his vehicle. At least he wasn't killed. This isn't meant to scare you but simply give you a heads up. It's a shame we are living in times such as this, but one has to be aware at all times it seems. I hunt with regular headphones but my hunting partner uses headphones with only one phone, keeping an ear open which isn't a bad idea. Continued Success to you.....now go git' that button.

Nice going on that extra cool CW bullet....way nice for sure.....and yeah...the mid tones are nice to hear..especially if hunting very old dirt where there is very little modern trash...Congrats!!

I was born and raised in New Orleans and now I live a hour away across the Causeway Bridge, longest over the war bridge in America 2nd in the world. It’s a war zone in some parts of New Orleans that had spread to Metairie La after Katrina. I keep moving further and further road from the city I’m just happy the thugs don’t like crossing over all that water.

Hmmmmm.....I never thought of it, but just maybe Thugs and water don't mix. Gives one something to ponder. Lol

Congratulations on the very cool relic! :occasion14:

Once again Truth great job and congrats! Keep posting your finds because I too am learning a lot from all the posts. Each one of those minnie balls are in great shape. Good luck on finding more. HH
