The number 10 is supposed to tell you how reliable the treasure info is. Pay it no mind :)
Coins means that the treasure is supposed to be coins.
Ingots means that the treasure is supposed to be in ingots.

I wish you well, and if you find something good....please send me a pic via email ;D

Hello, I went to your site and downloaded the U.S. Treasure Data Base and after I got it downloaded, for some reason after I unzip the files and clicking on any files does not open it up. If I click on a file a window opens up and then it disappears????? Is the files still working?

Hi, Timberwolf! Rayc50 here! I was wondering if you have ever came across any info concerning a shipwreck on the Wabash River around the Grayville, Illinois, area. Possibly a little north of Grayville. I read a story quite a while ago about THs finding coins along the banks on both the Indiana and Illinois sides of the river after flooding or high water. Supposedly back in the 1800's a small ship carrying the 'loot' hit a sandbar and capsized...possibly during the civil war era. I've searched archives and other sites, but can't remember where I read it. My son and I are heading that way as soon as 'mushroom season' comes to an end and any info might be of use. I'm sure when we get there, some of the locals could give us some info, but would kind of like to know if there might be any authenticity to the story. That area was quite active during the early settlements. Barges up the river, ferries across the river. In fact, my ancestors settled in Indiana, 'Pigeon Roost', and many of them were massacred at the Pigeon Roost Massacre. That was the first incident of the Indian war of 1812. The Richey's and the Finley's populated that area. Anyway, sorry about the straying. I'm a history buff, also. Would appreciate any help you might have. If you have any questions on the history of Southern Illinois or Indiana, give me a shout. Might have the answer or be able to find it. Have a good'n! Ray

They should be working. Did you click on pcf.exe, or one of the other files?
Pcf.exe is the DOS program. The data files are *.dta.
If you have MS Excel, you can bring these up with it.

Let me know if you can't get it working.

Hello TimberWolf,
The files are not opening up, my fiancee' went to your site from her computer and she went to download U.S Treasures as I did and she said there is something wrong with the files as the reason we can't open them up after unzipping them. She is more computer savy,(works at Dell), than I am. Let me know if it is us that is doing something wrong or something.

Thanks a bunch.

I just went to my site and downloaded the database to a folder on my hard drive. I then went into that folder using Windows Explorer. I cliked on PCF.EXE, and the program opened.

Please give it another try.

So, I was looking over your database online, and you list in Tombstone, Az a saloon cache. Can you give me anymore info? Point me in the right direction for research? Since I live there, and my husband and I know every square inch of the area (and if we don't, we know people who do, it's a REALLY small town!) maybe I should be looking for this lol. Any help or stories would be appreciated!

Sorry I missed seeing this post.
The 50 is just a probability number that the treasure exists. A 10 would be less probable.
Apparently the amount of coins is unknown, otherwise the $ amount would be listed.
This database is several years old, but I do know of one treasure listed, that has been recovered.
I don't know where Lewis Island is located. Google it and also check your local library for information.

I don't have any other info, sorry.
But since you live there, you should be able to go to your local library or the nearest in your area, and start researching.
I have found good solid leads reading through books on early county history.
Sometimes you will even find books about the early history of the town in question. ;D
Try looking at the old Sandborn maps of your town. It will list the businesses/saloons.
If you know where all of the saloons were located, you at least know that the cache was probably stashed on one of these properties.

Thanks Timberwolf, and I do have the Sanborn maps, but I had never heard of a cache from a saloon. Lots of other treasure leads here in the town and surrounding area, probably more than I could ever go after in a lifetime ;D, but I'm always up for more!

Timberwolf, I just found your post and excellent site you put up back in 07, that was a really nice thing to do. I hope you have a great day!
