Went out for a couple of hours today and put on the 5x8 coil and hit an iron patch that I knew had to be hiding some goodies. Moving slowly and listening hard through all iron I had an erratic signal that would bounce between 50 and 75 on the AT pro. Dug out a plug and out popped a bucket lister for me, a 1852 trime. Couldn't believe what I was seeing so I ran back to the truck and grabbed my phone for a quick pic.

After taking a few minutes to regain my composure I stowed my find and continued on with the same method and found an 1864 2 cent piece. I do believe it is the more common large motto variety.

What a fun hunt!

Here are some better pictures.

That's earning 5 cents the hard way!

Two really nice old coins in nice condition too. Congrats on your success sir!

Bucket list Trime...you're right about that. I don't go to coin shows or anything like that, so I have only seen photos of them. Never saw one in person, much less found one and held it in my hand. It is also a bucket list item for me. Maybe some day...Congratulations to you on an awesome day. Great finds.

Until the day I spotted mine on a curb tear out I had never seen one before either. Just the pictures of other folks on forums or my Red Book. Even though I knew by the details of the coin I was sure it was a trime, but NOT REALLY!!! LOL! One of those real I must pinch myself moments. Darn surreal feeling my trime recovery was. It would be nice if you could get your hands on one just to test your machine out what it reads at air testing and even planting it in the dirt. Not sure you'll get anyone to "loan" you a trime though. Ya'll ain't getting mine.:laughing7:

I'm as astounded as everyone else, but have to add my congrats to your awesome finds! Wow - I haven't found one of either of those yet and love to see that you've brought one of each up! Great finds!! :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

I've found a couple 3 cent Nickels in the same area and just knew a trime had to be hiding.
