Tuolomne County Patented Mines....dredging

California is going to pull the no dredging law in 2013... If its at a good price buy now. The land prices are only going to get higher with the CA economy coming back, and even more so when they pull the dredging law... Till then highbank the hell out of it, or possibly gravity dredge? On private property you could build yourself a mighty fine and efficient gravity dredge... Wish I was in the market to buy a claim/ land.....

????where are you getting your info?Pulling the Law?What?Do you know what the proposed laws specified,if we were to get it back??Might want to look at them and when you find out how much the permit will cost(if you can find out)you may double think what kind of a Deal you are getting...also Highbanking right now is a bit sketchy as well ,might want to be careful?Private or not........

LMAO. I love it. You guys sound like the voices in my head!!
I agree the sudden "pulling" of the law sounds to good to be true.

"the river holds the value" - that, to me, means no chance of building a residence on the property. There is a guy on the middle fork of the yuba river just
this past summer who was harassed by DFG game wardens, and his place was a patented mining claim. They tried to catch him dredging but failed. So, as
strictly a business decision, I would tell the seller I was very interested, but try to hold off for six months or so, until you get a trend on claim values in general.
And by then, maybe something will have happened in San Bernadino on the six court cases.

2013? I heard it was sealed till 2016, then we might have a chance again. :(

That is a very wise assumption you have made, and correct. They (1870's) built a large operation on the steep slopes, but there is no way to reproduce due to regulations and economics. I was hoping everyone told me the patented rights outweigh the treehuggers, but I deep down know better.:BangHead:

....I work %99 private property"Patented claims",and it exempts you from nothing legally

You didn't say which river. Keep in mind many of the rivers in Tuolumne County have 'Wild and Scenic' designations. I've been told you can't even pan some locations.

...hate to sound like naysayers but us as miners are in a Dire bleak situation...its best to know what your up against at the onset...anymore a guy is breaking a law he didnt have a clue existed!!!

Kuger, that's exactly the stance the USFS is taking with the MVUM (Motor Vehicle Use Management) Plan. Even tho You are on a road that has been a road for 100 years if they close it you are in violation. They don't have to post it and they say it is your responsibility to know. Closure= management. Oddly enough I'm hearing the same thing with offshore fishing. The new management tool is closure. I think Ken Salazar needs to take a nice long walk, preferrably in bear country.

The link was the Stanislaus NF Wild and Scenic Tuolumne River map. The north fork is only W&S for the last couple of hundred yards.

Yup, we are being played out as an evil that would level the entire forest for a grain of gold.

Trying to support a family....the horror

By prospecting? That's a really really really tough position to be in. Especially in California. Much like being down 10-0 bottom of the ninth with 2 outs and 2 strikes. BUT- if you have a proven claim and you HAVE to do it- find out all you can on booming. Still legal and as closest to dredging as you can get. (I'm sure if I'm misinformed others will respond.)
