IMO this is NOT the perfect storm. :D For maximum Treasure Beach erosion, we would prefer hurricane force winds from the East or Northeast. Here is a pic of Fay at 11PM Monday. I added a red arrow showing the wind direction affecting Fort Pierce. Remember a hurricane turns counterclockwise. I dont know if the southeasterly winds will be enough to erode much of that beach renourishment to bring it anywhere near pre-2005 levels. :(

Treasure Hunter I see you are going to my home Wyoming. You can find gold at South Pass in the wind River mountains. If you can find Rock Creek just south of South Pass Alantic City there are tailing piles from the old dredge they used there along time ago, you can find gold there that passed the dredge sometimes inside clumps of clay. Just don't jump any claims:] I think the biggest nugget they found was only 5oz. Good luck and carefull driving. I will try my luck on the east coast on wensday Thursday, David

Anyone brave the rain on the Treasure Coast? LOL

Tropical Storm Fay maintains strength over land

Tropical Storm Fay, which made landfall this morning, doesn't seem to be getting any weaker. The storm wasn't over water long enough to bulk up to hurricane strength but has developed an eye-like feature over the state's flat land.

I just got back.....took my boy.
It's always impressive being in these storms (even this dud)...We like the way it feels out there...windy rainy and the sting of beach sand and did I say windy...
As far as detecting, I didn't even bother to bring my machine.
The tide change may be interesting...and worth a few hours of working it.
You never know...if you don't look.

It sure is wet and windy outside. Must be a storm.

IF the TS turns into a bigger H and slams into the St Augustine area..this could be the biggest treasure beach bonanza in years!

I have heard stories of the beaches littered with blackened pieces of eight after big storms in years past.

I might just be there Thursday afternoon filling my money bags...

CZ
I agree that North of the Cape may get the most beach erosion with the desired East winds.

Fay storm models.

Anyone been to Sebastian? Any beach erosion?

The storm has stalled, and were stuck in the heavy rain bands. Hope I don't have to do shallow water detecting in the morning to find my keys on the kitchen table. :o

It looks as if you guys are getting the good easterly winds north of Sebastian. Looking at the radar, it appears the best winds are hitting the Cape.

This storm may not have much strength but the long DURATION of the storm can cause beach erosion North of the eye. The eye being south of Melbourne 27.7N 80.7W.

ADDED: I just heard on TV that a tornado destroyed 51 homes somewhere south or west of Melbourne Beach.

Hey no rain!

Jeez, I can't stand it! I live in Florida and last week I sent my waterproof detector to get repaired to White's in Oregon. AAAAAH! My big chance to finally find something other than clad and toy cars at the beach and it is sitting in Oregon.

Any chance my ACE 250 will find anything at the beach? I can lower the sensitivity and hope for the best.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

TE

oy! I am in Oregon too but not likely to be able to help you out much in getting your detector faster. :( I don't think the ACE would be much help unfortunately but it is better than staying home! Any place you can rent one?
