Highbanking/Dredging in the Philippines (Benguet area)

Good day!

I know that there are some older threads about prospecting in the Philippines but I would like to start a thread where people can (hopefully) share their own experiences (or their friends/relatives experience)

I’m moving to the Philippines in 2024 due to my job and I’m really curious about prospecting while I’m there, particularly in Benguet. But there’s not really a lot of info or videos on YouTube of how much you can expect finding there with a high banker for example.
The locals there uses somewhat outdated equipment and probably has pretty high losses.

So I’m wondering if anyone here has som experience from prospecting in Benguet to share.

I don't know anything about gold prospecting outside of where I live. But I can wish you the best with your new job location, and good gold where you'll be prospecting/mining.

Team up with a local prospector at the very least.

First off , I'd contact the Philippian's Government and get a copy of their rules ! read them over a couple of times to make sure you know what their rules are ! Then I'd try to (like was just posted ) contact any club or group or individuals that are over there and ask them !

Hi, is there any update on your prospecting here in Philippines?
I'm building my own high banker because as you said, people here are using old types of equipment and really slow feed rate but they manage to find gold. I'm from Visayas region, I did some test pans and found specs of fine gold, doing some more today.

We had a dredge builder here in Cali that had experience over there that operated his shop behind his wife’s chocolate factory it’s been a while. I also used to chat with a person over there that is a Muslim and while that’s neither here nor there for me American politics werent his bag.

I recently saw several TV shows on the Philipsens and the WW2 gold that the Government captured all gold and $$ from all of their areas that they invaded and the story of the maps that were generated by the Generals greed .and how the F. Marcos & the local gangs would scour the Island looking for anyone ( foreigner ) looking for these spots of buried gold ! everything was hidden and BOOBIE TRAPED so beware if your involved in this over there. REMEMBER : EVERYONE IS WATCHING YOU !!!!!! The , guberment & the gangs and anyone that will profit from your adventure and it could be a FATAL MISTAKE on your part ! It won't be a EZ task to deal with !!! and then if you do find something , HOW ARE YOU GOING TO GET IT OUT OF THERE WITHOUIT BEING SPOTED Jail /robbed / shot ?

I'm buying gold from gold panners here in my area for about 2years, but it looks like after a good payday they stopped working and resume when their money is spent, that'why I decided to mine those spots myself with 2 other locals. Just got a flake yesterday and lots of fine gold from testing 8 pans. Now i just got to figure out how to capture those fine stuff. The locals here didn't care about the fine gold they're washing away using indoor carpets.
And for the corruption part of the government, I did just close my business cause everyone from the lowest ranking barangay official to police will ask money on weekly basis if you have business, too much hassle. They wont bat an eye for gold prospectors though.
