Lucky! Hope one makes it here and reaks havoc on the sand :). Hope yall can get out after and score some big loot.

This afternoon a weak trough had looked as if it may push the storm up the tREASURE cOAST but the latest computer models show it hitting the West coast of Florida. http://weblogs.sun-sentinel.com/news/weather/hurricane/blog/

So much for that trough

What was I saying about rooting for a trough?

Shows how much things can change in just a matter of hours with tropical systems.

This morning, hurricane specialist Stacy Stewart of the National Hurricane Center was telling me that the path of what is now Tropical Storm Fay would be determined by a low-pressure trough pushing south across the United States.

That was before Fay's center moved over the Dominican Republic, changing the dynamics of the entire situation.

Now Fay is forecast to aim toward Florida's west coast. We'll have to see if it sticks to that projection as the hurricane center says there still is a lot of uncertainty in the models.

Forecasters expect Tropical Storm Fay to develop into a Category 1 hurricane and strike Key West on Monday. But South Florida could still be a direct target.

I guess its time to go out and buy bread, water, tunafish etc.... Gas for generator... batteries.

Yes of course. TY TY for reminding me about the beer. :o I have enough ammo.

Im thinking...No wonder the gas pumps were so crowded last nite! :icon_scratch: I thought they were excited about the 10 cent decrease in price per gallon.

Here is the latest models of the stike possibilities.

nevermind my lil post, just tagging the thread so I can keep up on what is happening with this. Will be praying for the safety of all of you folks I adore there! :tongue3:

I went to sleep thinking we would not see any rain at all until late tonight but how quickly things change this morning. TS Fay made an uexpected turn to the north and a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for the Florida East Coast. Only 60 MpH sustained winds at this time but the low barametric pressure means strengthening. We are already getting very heavy rainfall. Possibility of tornados with all the instability in the atmosphere. The eye will soon pass over Cuba's mountanous terrain and enter some very warm waters of the Florida Straits.

Bic C,

I hope your correct or rather the VIPIR radar forecast's is correct.

The wife and I have airline tickets to fly out Wednesday morning at 6am to Phoenix, rent a car and take a scenic drive to Yellowstone National Park to spend a week there.

We haven't had a hurricane in 4 years, and now one wants to hit the day we leave on vacation to Yellowstone......

Talk about Murphy's Law....#$&**^#$%%@@$***#@ >:( It messes up our vacation, plus I can't plan on hitting the beaches either.........GRRRRRRRR

SYSTEM IS FALLING APART

The latest advisory says nothing but a bunch of heavy rain, even though there are some tornado warnings.
The barometric pressure is now rising, which means it is NOT strengthening. It may never reach Cat 1.
Hurricane warnings have been lifted in the Keys. It lazily came ashore in Key West about 3 PM.
I think it is expected to make the peninsula landfall around Fort Myers.. The west coast residents are wary because they were deceived a few years back with hurricane Charlie which turned out to be devastating.
But I think this one is a dud and maybe nothing to worry about. Fay appears to be weakening, wobbling and falling apart. You may see sunshine by Wednesday morning.

It may however cause some minor beach erosion.

Hey THunter. Made the trip to Yellowstone last year and I believe you will find lots of treasure there that you can't find on the Florida coast. You may have been there before but if you haven't, you are in for a treat. I bought a motorhome just for the trip and spent 19 days in Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, South Dakota, etc.

That is a trip I will never forget.

P.S. We will leave a Spanish Coin or two for you to find.

DaChief

Chief, you are correct, it is a great place to see, every American should see it at least once in their life. This will be my 8th vacation I have taken to Yellowstone, but my present wife has never seen it . I haven't been back there since 1993, and I thought I would make it a birthday present to myself. I turn 60 in Oct, but as you probably know, it is rather cold there in Oct.

I have stay there in Old Faifthful Inn, camped in tents, vans, popup camper and this time we are staying in the Rosevelt Cabins on Lake Yellowstone. Only way I have never stayed is in a Motor Home, would be nice to try sometime.......

We are flying into Phoenix, driving to Grand Canyon, then drive through Monument Valley where they filmed all the John Wayne/John Ford movies (Stage Coach, Tie a Yellow Ribbon, Rio Grande, The Searchers). We are then going to go see Bryce and Zion Canyon National Parks and then up to Grand Teton National park and findly Yellowstone..................

We are planning that Grand Canyon trip for next year. Got a good price on a Motor Home. 19 days on the road. $1,600 in gas but with 7 of us, (4 adults), airfare, rental car, gas for the rental car, hotel, food everyday out, etc. would have come to much more than that. Stayed at some really nice camp areas for less than 20 dollars a day. Can't wait to do it again. This year is out. Too much going on. Enjoy your trip and send us some pics!

Chief, your right about the motor home ,if you can split the costs of the gas it is a great way to travel.........I wanted the wife to try a pop-up camper or motor home sometime, she doesn't care for tents and sleeping on the ground.............................Good luck hunting after the storm..........
