I love me some shots . flu , whooping cough , shingles , pneumonia , had them all. I look forward to getting the corona19 if it comes to market.

I have not been sick in many years and have gotten the flu shot every year for most of my adult life.

my girlfriend has never had a flu shot and also has never had the flu . it would seem she's at a high risk being a school bus driver. but remains well year after year.

after getting shingles once, Several years ago,
I've been getting shots. This year it was a 2 Part Shot about 3 Months apart.

I still have the scar above my Right eye on my Forehead from the shingles.
it's actually still sore if I rub it, Like there is less Meat between the Skin & My Skull there :dontknow:

I wouldn’t know, at 58 y.o. I’ve never had the flu afaik.
That is very unbelievable. As a young child I remember quite a few times I missed school and spent a couple days puking in a pot..eating jello and 7-up.

Got better the older I got.

I cannot fathom someone never having the flu, but hey..you are doing great. When I had kids...the flu spread like wildfire in daycare and school...in my office..the flu spreads like crazy. Count your blessings but I’m doubtful.

Part of herd immunity.

We need to start writing our local representatives telling them that we NEED to start preparing and implementing a plan to fully open our small local economies in areas where illness is low.

The damage caused by the economic damage is far more impacting and longer lasting than any deaths.
Drug abuse, mental illness, suicide, crime, spousal abuse, child abuse...etc.

Small communities need to generate a sense of urgency in emergency meetings and acting in a short period of time.

5 total cases in several months...no active cases in my county and we STILL look to the state government for guidance. Meanwhile the fragile local economies we had prior to this virus are decimated.

We need to wake the #### (heck) up!!!!!! And look at the local data.

There was a time to be recognizing the potential of this illness...now we HAVE. to recognize the unique circumstance densely populated areas have in comparison to rural areas. We don't all need to go down on the same boat.

Small rural areas provide FOOD and Raw Materials.
They are far more susceptible to economic downturn. It means the difference between your kids moving back after college or them moving to the city.

And my county representatives are worried about the SECOND WAVE!!

Damm. People in densely populated areas should be insisting the rural areas not hit with the virus over months..open up with precautions.. the literal social burden in $$ is incredible.

People spending a lifetime on social programs raising kids to do the same. It's huge!

K rant over. I gotta be in the running with AARC for repetitive posts

Been watching the data every day. The US tally for flu in 2018-19 is 34,000 dead. For the past 16 days C19 has been averaging 2000 deaths each day... that's 32,000 dead in 16 days. In one more day, we'll have 17 days of C19 deaths that equal all of last flu season's dead. That alone is 21.5 times more deadly.

But that's with us taking extreme unconstitutional measures to slow this thing. Consider if we had not... most likely we would be looking at at least 10x the death rate, or 20,000 every single day. I think that's overly conservative because such an infection rate would overwhelm hospitals and particularly ventilators, as happened in Italy. It's very likely that every single day would equal the entire 2018/19 flu season. That's 365 times more deadly. And that's why it needs to be taken seriously.

Finally, this thing probably ain't seasonal like the flu. Southern hemisphere countries coming out of their summer have it just as bad. It's not going away until there is a vaccine.

For many of us, it is as obvious as a huge whitehead zit on the end of our nose.
It's gonna pop anytime and the nasty puss will be exposed, and need to be dealt with.
But it's possible I could be mistaken. I sometimes make mistakes.

Edit: social distancing/precautions are good. Lock down mentality, to me, is the building zit.
It's the puss behind the zit, that will need to be dealt with. But that's if it turns out to be puss/toxic poison/vile . . . (the bad guys)

But African countries weren't hit badly. Maybe the hot climate affects the way the virus spreads. If this is the case, things will get better by summer.

Not going to argue...

Social distancing and hand washing seems to be working pretty well. We need to recognize that population density is playing a major role in how this spreads. Lower population densities are not seeing many cases. I don’t think that is because non essential businesses are closed. We have half dozen people per square mile..those hot spots have several thousand people per square mile.

The elimination of large gatherings and the closure of the schools has helped enormously.

Town has more traffic than usual..yet we still only had half dozen people sick...no deaths and currently no active cases...time to open up “non essential” businesses. We need to be aware of what is ACTUALLY happening locally, not what could happen or what DID happen in large cities.

People talk about reopening air travel like nobody is traveling...seems like people are moving around our country still. Maybe not as much air traffic, but people are not exactly staying locked in their homes.

The idea was to flatten the curve...not turn off our economy and lives until nobody got sick.

No matter what people should take forward through this... FOREVER.

1. Keep 6 feet away... I have never liked people closer than three feet anyway... UNLESS they were the opposite sex :).. just good practice and fine by me.

2. Hand hygiene ... This is a slack thing anyway... I walk into public bathrooms and it is a joke... the design... the amenities... and I have mentioned the bathroom thing before on Tnet.

This Covid has hopefully been a "wakeup call"...

People really need to pay attention to what they touch and the hand hygiene and have been super slack on hand washing at restaurants and public places for decades. IMO.

Not quite. Im here in southern africa. Everyone was wondering initially if conditions of poverty and poor sanitary conditions IMPROVE immune response or decrease it.

Africa generally has a higher mortality rate so therefore a YOUNGER population over all. Mortality of covid appears to be age related

Data collection is dismal. Many Africans living in 'townships' ( shacks built next to each other like card houses) are AFRAID to let it be KNOWN that they have the symptoms because they are killed by angry residents / mobs. This is an unfortunate fact.

The whole of central Africa is a high risk Malaria zone - do these people have a immune response better prepared for covid

Lockdown here was VERY early/ rapid

I cant understand how the slums/ poverty and population of 1BILLION in India isnt seeing higher numbers.

I also agree with the thinking that China MUST have the highest cases

South America in general (in my mind ) should be having numbers much higher than what is reflected in worldometers

Its also unclear if herd immunity is even possible? Or does it just mean that everyone left has it and is asymptomatic ? Or is it like Malaria or cold sores...you always have it and it flares up when your immune system is low?

Matter of fact I don’t recall anyone in my family of five having the flu. Raised much of our own food, had a garden. Mom made sure we took our vitamins. We were out side a lot, and throughout the winter, in the north.

Im also in that situation of having been incredibly sick with flu shots as a child/ teen. Stopped forever. Never had flu since - about 30 years. But I know in Australia they have the "Asian flu" well...thats what they called it 20 years ago.... but I think it was more a baby boomer reference to the asian flu from the late 50's

though I'm sure I was sick a few times when I was younger, Most of the times I was fake sick till the school Bus left.
at least I know I threw up a few times Without Forcing it :tongue3: But never anything serious enough to go to Hospital.

Neither do I remember my Parents ever being ill.

Though recently I read on a newspaper site where as a pre teen My Dad almost Died from pneumonia

as I said , I think it has to do with the Times.
years ago People didn't run to the doctor all the time,
or worry as much about sanitation.
His mother was a "German Pow Wow" & Probably tried to heal him at first with Hocus Pocus and herbs & Eventually asked for Help. he once told me she was a Very Good Pow wow, So perhaps she never called a doctor.

Dumps were out back of houses , Community dumps were play areas

It really was the "Real World" & Peoples immunities learned how to adapt

I Sprinkle Garlic Powder on almost Everything I cook.
the Vampire gets me almost every-time I Visit my Doctor Though.

I have a big garden , We grow and eat around 150 bulbs of garlic every year . We eat a very health diet High in veggies and fruits . and don't require any daily meds .
I also walk about 16 miles a week to keep the weight in check and to just feel better .
even though I'm over 60 I think I'd live through the covid19 , I'm in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in.
GREAT!

I hate the change return bowl found at convenience stores . everyone paying cash has put their hand in it getting the change out.
I bet it's a great source of covid transmission.

African Countries aren't as Bad because of Malaria .
hydroxychloroquine is Widely used there

Ok, hydroxychloroquine with zinc and vitamins c & d is the ticket.

So why would anyone need to be locked down? Why a vaccine?
How dumb do they think we are?

I have zero patience with oppression. I am an old man, but I can get real serious against oppression.
I think there will be big issues if this isn't quelched very soon.

Nothing but a power grab for twisted folk that are too stupid to realize we know who they are.
