Went back to the site I got some buttons and and knicknacks but not a hint of a coin. :'( I guess the best find of the hunt is the trigger guard which is without a doubt the longest one I ever found and at least it has a nice design on the bottom. Not sure if I will revisit this site anytime soon, it was a hassle today getting to it through the woods and I did search it rather hard today and will scratch this one off the list as a possible prime return spot. On to the next new site next time. :D

I have no idea on the age of the trigger guard or for what type of gun it was installed on.

Thats a very cool find Don...nice engraving. Looks like you have another musket piece as well...with the broken hole.

Nice trigger guard, Don. You rarely see them being posted on the forums.

Like the trigger guard. I found one almost like it earlier this year..

That is a very nice relic and one that is almost never seen complete... and for that reason I have to vote banner! ..or at least honorable mention!

I might be a little more inclined to like this simply because I have been digging parts of them for ten years. They never seem to survive a plough.

Nice going on the trigger guard. I don't ever remember seeing an intact one posted. I also think your other finds are great as well. You found some nice buttons. That tombac fragment resembles most of the ones I dig. Almost all of mine a fragments.

Nice going...but time to move on to other sites!

Nice design on that guard Don. Congrats...Hogge :headbang:

Nice trigger guard Don.

I've found sites just like the one you speak of. Not many finds at certain places. Lots of hard work to get to them also. Let it sit for awhile. It will show more finds in the future.

I would do a backflip if I found that trigger guard....but I would be in traction and couldn't detect for a while.

Cool finds. :icon_thumright: The trigger guard looks like it is off a Kentucky rifle and could be nearly 200 years old if so. Perhaps others will weigh in.

Found this one earlier this year, not as nice as yours though.

Wow! You even found the broken piece off the end! (I see it in the center of your photo).

Great stuff, Don. I'm a sucker for good relics.
