There are many ancient tales/myths/stories of vast treasures in Iran. One of my high school girlfriends, Rita Sahar, told me about the treasure of Shahram, and Ziwiye. I know about the searches pre-1971, but then it all went to hell.

I found iron, bronze, pottery and glass objects in large numbers, without using any metal detector
The only metal detector I used in this way was a simple detector with 2 antennas, which only revealed the boundaries of settlements and graves to me.
The glass objects I discovered were my most valuable discoveries, but they were confiscated by the Iranian police
