Dog, THer:
That first photo does look like a bear or dog, but that shadow bird with the wide opened bill is about to chop down on some figure / symbol there.

I wish I would have brought a camera today. On the Pacific Crest Trail, there's trail markers out there. Not very many, and mostly in the forms of faces looking in the direction of the trail, but they are there. During the next cold spell in the desert, I might go back out, and take a few pics for you guys to see. You know, the small things I would have never noticed until I joined this site.

and after 7 miles of climbing over rocks and rivers, I'm pooped. :laughing7:

SEVEN MILES !!!!!!! You must be a young feller. I got pooped just READING your post. :laughing7: :notworthy: :coffee2:

I'm 26. seven miles is kind of pitiful. I should be able to do twenty :laughing7: I get side tracked a lot, and when I saw the first face at the mouth of the canyon, I had to see where it was looking, which led me to another face etc. I didn't even find the trail until I was almost on my way back. I just kind of stumbled on it. Now I know where it is, I have a rock house to find somewhere back there. that will be a 13 mile round trip. I'll tell you, walking back to the truck ON the trail is so much easier than making your own.

Sounds like you've gotten a great project on your hands. Good luck and you'll probably take some very interesting photos, too.

26, huh?? Weeeelll, back when I was young, I..............................................i forgot. :icon_scratch:

dog,
nice monument, I sent you the meanings of all 7 elements, via pm...as the natives are restless right now...best for the truth to stay underground again..

well pala , you are right about about the friendly fire , and i apologize .
you guys can have your forum back . i have became the thing i disliked about public forums anyway , in dealing with rangler's quote .
sorry about that .
i think i have made my point , but it won't matter , he will never admit fault IMO .

I'll give you my take on some of the players in here . Spingfield is brutally honest , and he is also very smart . I personally would take his advice over rangkers . use your head if you think you have booby traps on anything . treasure hunting is a journey . it takes a lifetime . and if anyone tells you they know it all . it would be my opinion they are lying .
good luck you all.///bob

Bob, I am differently abled, when it comes to treasure S/S, but when it comes to what people reveal in themselves in what they writte, I consider myself better at it.

I will defend what I think is right, but not blindly...., I hope.

You have raised my opinion of springfield by your words on this quote.

These last words you wrotte show me alot about you character, and it`s good.

I have barely met you, I hope this was not a goodbye.

resized and a shadow heart.

Dog, the THer:

I tried to bring out more detail in the right side where
the haze is located. I marked a couple of things to
consider with this trail monument. That bear is giving
you the direction of travel and the flying owl is telling you
to go on over that hill the bear is looking at and continue on.
At first, I thought that large, black shape was a crow or raven about
to pick up a shiney object (that symbol). That would be indicating
to look for an eyecatcher from on top of that hill on the heading the
bear is looking. But, now that I see that white dog, that is probably
a black dog about to bite the symbol for the mine. In other words,
the mine is booby trapped.

Dog, TTHer:

Some of the more knowledgable trail followers have written that a trail monument
is normally set to give direction and distance without having to walk right up on the figure.
The square corners MIGHT have a "distance" meaning, but I can't help you there.
The reason I mentioned "crow or raven about to pick up a shiney thing" in my last post
is because the Magpie, Crow, and Raven are notorious thieves. They like shiney objects
and will pick them up and cache them by their nests. I was thinking that maybe that black
figure was a Raven picking up a "goodie" and was the symbol to look for an eyecatcher somewhere
on your line of march from this point. That eyecatcher, in that case, would be a bright white stone
or even a reflective "sun catcher" like Kenworthy shows in his book. But, then I saw the white dog and
figured that the black figure is a black DOG instead. Someone posted that when there is a white
dog, there will be a black one close by. Maybe the WHITE dog was put there to confirm the black
area as a DOG and not a Raven. That would give the signs a whole new meaning. The black dog
is a sign of danger and this one is about to snap down on that symbol that looks like the sign for a
mine or cache hole.

Edit: There is one more POSSIBLE meaning on that circular figure the black dog is chomping.
It might mean a bad water source on the trail. As in poisoned or undrinkable due to alkali or
some other contaminate. Therefore, the trail followers are advised to carry water with them.
Just a thought.

dog,
recently I posted a picture of a similar monument in Basic signs.
It was part of a set of four major monuments that marked a campsite.
Look in the direction the face of the pointer is looking, the next marker (monument )
will be in a direct line from that pointer. This next monument will point in the direction of the camp.

Kanabite, :coffee2:

We could all learn alot from you last two posts.

Thanks, Mario

bovic,
any context to the stone you found, no state of course,
no landmarks, just trying to help
as this looks like a piece of 'art' work, the only possible
thing I see that is recognizable is the cross hatching..
this is an art technique, but in some quarters that is a
symbol for 'burial'
the only other thing is the backward C ..both pretty
sketchy...at this point

old lady or young girl with a hat?

If rangler has a death trap waiting for me please enlighten me.
Please be a good samaritan and help me stay safe.
I used this Quote because, others could have wrote it as well.
I asked the same on another thread.

I have already identified others that don't like rangler.

rangler has marked up pictures for me, to help me along.
Not all attacking rangler have marked my pictures
no help there [from you guys who attack] [parenthesis mine]

Dont worry Mario, I will certainly will give you a heads up on anything I see,
I know you know that but as the chit stirrers get more off target of the thread - things can go askew -
and you are correct in none of the attackers will ever really help you , you can discount them immediately out of hand.
..they are only trying to get people to take sides, and divide the community as we have built here on line. Stay strong, ignore them all.. literally as I do.
and I will as always .... overcome, adapt and persevere

Dog,
your pic was soooo humongous and my aspect ratio on my pc was set incorrect anyway..which made your pic about 2 feet wide ! I miss the second half [right side] of your photo...
and thanks to Bill or I would have never known that part of the pic was there...

so here is your pic marked as it should have been.
sorry for the oversight

the circle on the left is holding a X and perhaps some other digit, can't see it without
a close up for sure, the fact that the tiny hoyo is near near says this might be worth
investigating...if not, then the small hoyo would just be natural...
1.perhaps natural unless you can confirm the digits in the circle
2. real hoyo- however the shape is not immediately recognizable
3. this shape might be a water bottle?
4.white dog
5.pig
At the very least a confirmed trail marker and perhaps just pointing to water.
hope this helps
rangler
ps Tim, sorry too because we were talking about two different signs, you were correct sir!
and i could not see this part of the rock as I explained above.
