So I have a question.
The little beads I found here on the hill are much smaller than the little ones I found in Montana.
Tell me the reason for this please.

The smaller beads that you found on the hill there, are what are called ''seed beads'', and the beads that are a little larger (1/8 of inch) that you found here in Montana, are ''pony beads''. Both were traded with the different tribes here in the west. I have found both types here in Montana.

Thanks Dennis & Unclemac, for the info.
I suppose the beads found at graves are for ceremonial purposes?? Would a chief and a child have the same amount of beads?
Here is the grave on the hill. The rock is the headstone and it has odds & ends of stuff I have found on the hill & not wanted to pack to the house laying on it.
In the last photo I stood a rock up in the background to show where the beads were from the graves headstone.
And I might add that the remains were moved to the reservation in probably the late 50's or early 60's.

There is also 2 Boe children buried next to this one as they died of scarlet fever. Boe's are the family that first homesteaded here. Their bodies have been moved to cemetaries.

Is my assumption right that the grave was on the east, southeast part of the hill? The Indians seemed to favor that direction, as that was the direction of sunrise. It was tradition to have the tepee entrance face the direction of the rising of the sun. Vision Quest's were usually always at the highest point that faced the east, southeast also.

You are correct Dennis. The grave is facing the east and the beads were to the west of the headstone about 5 steps. There were other items I have found there too.
This tiny piece of braiding. How could it have survived all these years? If I look through my binoculars backwards each strand looks like it may be fiber such as maybe wool.

Those are awesome finds, especially the twine. It never ceases to amaze me at some of the stuff that lasts through the years up north here. Are those two pieces in the middle, in the last photo bone? They look like small curved sewing needles, or they they may be sewing needles that are broken. Thanks for sharing!

I would love to know what those two little objects are. They have a slight ridge on the side, it is noticeable in the photo. I do not think they are bone. Would a talon or tooth have that little ridge? They color reminds me slightly of pipstone, a bit darker thought, but I do not think they are rock either.
There were also 2 rhinestones I found up there. They were over to the North on the other side of the babies graves. I have found some buttons too and snaps.
I still look up there often (in search of the other half of the serrated arrowhead mostly) hoping to find something new. And sometimes I do.

antler...they could easily be antler

that braiding could be from a sandal, I have seen such work before.

Unclemac, I don't think that even a Jackalope would have antlers that small.

har, har.....worked down tines......

But they have that little distinct slight ridge along the sides of them. I don't think they could be worked with that slight ridge.

are you thinking that the ridge is natural?
