Hey everyone,

Awesome night on the beach.

Took a friend out to show him how my detector works last night. Low tide wasn’t until 9:30 pm and we didn’t get out there until about 10:00. It’s been cold and rainy so I wasn’t feeling it but he really wanted to check it out. We grabbed the gear and the headlamp and went for it.

I was explaining how it worked and we found a couple pieces of junk. Just after the second piece of junk I got a hit that I thought could be a coin. Dig up a little sand and...no way! A silver half dollar! This happened to me last time I night hunted a different beach in this area too! (That time it was Seated). I couldn’t believe it. 3rd hit in at a completely random beach community, BOOM, Walking Liberty Half!

We were fist bumping and celebrating and he had no idea why haha. I had to explain that finding a silver half dollar is a rarity, especially right out of the gates like that. We got completely lucky to walk right over that spot on a massive beach. It’s my first Walker in over a year so I was especially pleased about that as well.

We got a couple other fishing lures, pieces of junk and a roached wheat penny.

Date on the Walker looks like 1944 but it is in rough shape.

I told him most days aren’t like that. He probably thinks this hobby is a piece of cake now! Lol.

Thanks for looking and happy hunting everyone!

Congrats. Did you tell him about how many hours you pulled the trash from that beach prior to your find? Bottom line...still worth it. :laughing7:

Sweet!!!! Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

That is a great find. America's most beautiful coin in my opinion. Not in bad shape considering. Congrats!

Sweet silver, I hope you can clean it up a bit! :occasion14:

Haha thank you! The funny thing is, I had never detected that beach before! Just blind luck and intuition. I've hunted beaches in that general area so I had a better feel for how to read it.

Thank you Randy! Just trying to keep you entertained :)

Thank you! Yeah, I would love if it had come out of the dirt but I'll take it any way I can get it. I agree. One of the most beautiful without a doubt.

Thanks PoE! I did a little Baking Soda and water. Other than that I think I'm going to leave it as be. She has character, like most of us these days, hah!

With that kind of intuition and MD skill your next coin has to be gold.

Dang, let's hope so! I have to think a beach is my best chance at it.
