I never said that. Thats your equivication. Comes down to how much time I want to spend debating the original topic, which is whether or not political discussion is a form of treasure hunting."If I take a lot of heat for expressing my opinion in this thread, I will leave"
= I'll say what I like about the site and the members but if anyone else expresses themselves im outta here"
Well, there has been book banning going on recently. I just want more treasure and treasure related talk. For the past ten years political discussion has been tiring.Eastender, sorry, but isn't saying we should close down or not have our politics forum because you object to the title of some of the threads like telling a library or book store to stop loaning out or selling certain magazines and books because you don't like the titles.
You are allowed to express your opinion on this without taking heat as long as rules are followed and that also applies to the replies.
FYI, nothing you have said changes the fact you are a respected member here.
Love BOC....
Now you are approaching the political aspects that don't belong in the general forum.Well, there has been book banning going on recently. I just want more treasure and treasure related talk. For the past ten years political discussion has been tiring.
So you never said "If I take a lot of heat for expressing my opinion in this thread, I will leave"I never said that. Thats your equivication. Comes down to how much time I want to spend debating the original topic, which is whether or not political discussion is a form of treasure hunting.
You were doing so well till the last paragraph then you start to go down that road of another topic. Why?As the late Andrew Breitbart said, "politics is downstream from culture".
When people speak freely and openly there are bound to be times when certain biases and even prejudices come to the fore. We are not robots after all and we must all be guilty of assuming others share our own worldview and let's face it, if we as individuals cannot tolerate those who share different opinions then we should really just unsulate and find a cosy little echo chamber far from the maddening crowds.
(Deleted for politics)
Love BOC....
Now why did post something that is clearly treasures of your career? This is not treasure-related, but since we are in the General Discussion Forum, here is one of my photos of BOC's founding members Joe and Albert Bouchard being inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame March 2017. As you probably know, they started as The Soft White Underbelly playing around Stony Brook Univ., LI. I was a music photographer for over ten years, and my images will be featured in an upcoming coffee table book this year. A special treat for this show was the addition of Alice Cooper's bass player Dennis Dunaway with the band. They played "I'm Eighteen" which was a teen anthem for me.
Go back and read my posts. Great praise for the site. I contribute to the site, both in posts and money. If I wrote it I obviously said it. Not all members engage in political discussion. I criticized hosting political discussion here, not individuals engaged in it.So you never said "If I take a lot of heat for expressing my opinion in this thread, I will leave"
Could you please explain what that means other than if others don't like what you say and express their opinions then you will leave! You ragged out the site wishing it was another way. Utter rubbish its exactly what you said.
Explain to me why you will leave if its for any other reason!
"I sometimes think of leaving this site and searching for a purist treasure hunting site."
= this site doesn't meet my own high purist la de da detecting standards I sometimes think ill leave and find a better one.
You ragged on the place and its members being below you plain and simple man up and own it.
It summed up my point. We could go on debating the political discussion point, or delve deeper into the mysteries of metal detecting. You were doing so well till the last paragraph then you start to go down that road of another topic. Why?
Look in the mirror (your place of digging) it's got some ask-no tell history.
So true 👍It summed up my point. We could go on debating the political discussion point, or delve deeper into the mysteries of metal detecting.
Come now, I took aim at both left and right for that one. Poking fun at the left for their Orange obsession and the right for their propensity toward conspiracy theories. You were doing so well till the last paragraph then you start to go down that road of another topic. Why?
Look in the mirror (your place of digging) it's got some ask-no tell history.
I appreciate the interest and it is mutual. I have a graduate-level background in Natural & Cultural Resources Management and worked professionally as a field archaeologist in the Mojave Desert of Southern CA. Started by picking arrowheads in the cornfields of western NY State where I grew up. By the time I was 25 I lived and conducted field research (both environmental and archaeological) for several years combined on the big Island of Hawaii, East Africa (Kenya and Tanzania), India top to bottom, Central Nepal to the Tibetan Plateau , and the Golan Hts. of Israel. I am currently a Scientific Consultant to The First Nations. So true 👍
Now a personal query: From photographer to detectorist.
Just trying to figure this out, as dots are connected one gets a sense of the passion they actually have with this passion of digging in the dirt.
I think all of these conspiracy theories are all part of a larger conspiracy.Come now, I took aim at both left and right for that one. Poking fun at the left for their Orange obsession and the right for their propensity toward conspiracy theories.
