That is one beautiful coin. Congratulations!

I wish the Romans had come to Alabama!

Nero AE Dupondius. NERO CLAVD CAESAR AVG GER P M TR P IMP P P, radiate head right / MAC AVG S-C, frontal view of the domed Macellum Magnum building, male figure in niche on left, RIC 184

Although the above would be the right ID from Cru'Dad, I think it looks like the copies I have found in the past. Look carefully for a stamp with a 'copy' or WR?

Nice coin of Nero, oh looks like Crusader beat me! :)

It has WRL on both sides so its fake 😢

It's got WRL on it so is it a fake 

It is a shame but I knew it from the colour. I have been fooled in a local park, it came out so convincing. Not to worry, I still keep mine as an interesting find, so will you...

Bloody hell gutted this was my 1st old old find only been doing it a month thought my luck was right in :-(
Any idea what it would be worth if real ???

Without looking it up,,they tend to copy quite rare ones, so probably £100+.

It would have been very lucky, I forget how many years it took to get my first. Now we are more researched/targetted it might seem easy.

Get on Google Earth, look for cropmarks, remember to look at each field on every timeline (other than 1945).

Thanks for that ill look on there now why not 1945 ??
Where in the uk are you
I'm in gloucester it was a big roman city so fingers x ill find one one day

Its in black & white & the cropmarks don't show up. It is useful to see the old field divisions before they got there hedges ripped out to make larger fields. This can help work out some of the straight line cropmarks, which then tells you its likely to be more modern than Roman.

Below is the type of thing your looking for, but they vary alot.

Forgot, I'm in East Anglia.

Gloucester is a great place.

I few tips:

Look for the high ground, or terraces dig into the side of high ground.
Look near the river but not on floodplain
Look for dark soil & pot shards
Don't try next to Roman Roads but at least several hundred metres away on the high ground
Always do ploughed or previously ploughed land.

Thanks for your help mate ill try all these :-)
