Thank you.

May be hot but you are smokn the finds. When the lead melts in your hole it is to hot. Great saves as always sir.

Love it, as usual. You have enough .69s now to start your own arsenal?

Looks like you got a virgin camp there boy! I've only found 1 big virgin camp before in the late 1990s and I wrote about it here http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/general-discussion/335752-finding-civil-war-camp-sites.html the only reason know one else really found it was because the camp sits on the hill as you can tell in the photograph... Hit that camp of yours nice and slow and if they built huts in the camp you are hunting? more then likely most of the plates, buckles and even id tags, etc are in the huts but i know for a fact if the camp you are hunting had huts there is a buckle/plate or two in one of them...

That was very cool thank you for sharing. My camp is big but definitely not virgin. There was 2 guys before me recently. Other then them the landowner is not sure because he's only owned it for a few years. Also there are acres where I don't find anything because the dirt is shallow to the bedrock. Most of my finds come from little pockets where the soil is deep. Two of the pockets were a 1/4 mile apart so ya it's pretty big. So far I've found buttons from 6 different states, zouaves, and eagles but 80% are cuffs. Most of the big buttons are gone. I just keep gridding trying to cover the whole property where the ground cover allows it. I haven't found any evidence of huts yet, but I'm not giving up.

Thanks, ya the lead is piling up. Here's a pic of all the lead so far from this camp. The loose stuff is the past 30 days and the lead in jars is the previous 60 days.

Judging from all your finds JDug it looks like it was a winter camp. In which if that is the case there should be huts. Also not to mention a huge trash pit. I have seen all the finds of yours from this camp and can automatically tell you if someone else hasn't found the trash pit yet, you are about to stumble upon a huge glory hole of plates/buckles,bottles,etc etc. You should research the camp more.. Find out what regiment was there and when. And based on that evidence start probing for huts and the trash pit.

Man that's some bullets there man I'm from tx and have virtually no civil war sites ill prob never get a chance to dig any bullets

Thanks, it seems like Texas would be full of billets pre & post Civil War. If it's Civil War your looking for I would look for the staging areas where they were mustered in, issued weapons, uniforms, and ammo. Not to mention probably trained at marching and battlefield maneuvers for weeks or months. I'm no expert by ant means but that's where I would start my research.
