It was a pretty boring day today... The mrs. had just went home to her hometown so I was left alone with our two cats. After watching a lot of metal detecting videos on youtube and seeing all the folks from UK finding hammered silver coins and gold staters I got inspired and decided to go metal detecting. I took my bike and the machine to a park where I've been at least 5-6 times before. Me and my friend had previously found a couple copper coins (he had found one 2 öre 1537 silver coin there). While biking there people were staring at me like I was some sort of alien or freak. You see, in Sweden, this hobby is very uncommon and people will keep walking up to you and ask what you are doing (some old folks think I am cutting the grass with a trimmer). This can get very annoying... One buff dude walked up next to me and stared at me (not asking any questions). I stared back. We had a stand off for about 30 long seconds until he gave up and left. What's up with that?
Anyway, My first signal after getting to the park was this AMAZING silver coin which I have been dreaming of finding since I started metal detecting in 2013. It is a 5 öre 1692 SM (stands for silvercoin in Swedish). Not sure if you would call it a hammered or a milled coin, though. I just can't believe that I found this coin...
