Happy New Year, all.

Managed to get out today to a site I have been working on, albeit slowly. 98 clad cents, a 1942 wheat and this coin(?)

It rang in at a solid 81 on the AT Pro. It is almost like I can make out numbers on the reverse(?) at the bottom, but I can't make out too much and am not sure how to go about cleaning this up.

I am not even sure if it *is* anything. I say it's a coin because it's coin-ish. Slightly larger than a US quarter.

Any thoughts? I do have to go to work for a few hours but look forward to any responses. I can attempt better pictures if need be. Thanks!

Happy hunting and enjoy the day!

Congrats on getting your 1st hunt for 2016 under your belt. :occasion14: That's a cool find, no matter what it turns out to be.

Thanks! Just doing a cursory image search earlier showed many similar coins. I would really have to study it and it just isn't in that great of shape. I have it soaking in olive oil but I believe if I try doing any other cleaning techniques, it'll turn to dust. I'm certain I'm in an area that had a 1920s home, just from the other odds and ends I've been digging so that would fit the time period as well. Cheers!

Thanks, Loco! High 40s, sun out, a few hours off and ground that isn't frozen on January 1st? Can't waste that! Hoping it's the same tomorrow when I have all day off. Here's to a successful 2016 season!
