To Buy or Not to Buy - The XP Deus?

Great thread. I've been hemming and hawing about upgrading my ATP . The T2 , Deus and CTX are all on my radar. Obviously all different price points. The Deus seems the happy medium and a good bet since I hunt cellar holes ,fields and the like as compared to parks beaches and newer sites. But quite frankly it just seems too complicated to me to learn. I don't mind taking 40 hours to really learn it but I don't want to still feel uncomfortable at 80 hours. Am I being overly concerned?

Buy it you will love it! Got me a GREAT coin yesterday......

Yes! The XP Deus is really easy to learn especially after the basic into we give all our customers. With our settings is one of the simplest machines on the market to learn quick.

Holler if you have questions, Bart. ;)

I have the T2 and the ATP. While the T2 may go deeper in the right situation, I prefer the ATP over the T2. If I were you, I'd skip the T2 and go for the Deus. The many programmable options make it appear to be complicated, but the turn on and go factory programs will take you a long way before getting into all the customization.

I went from ATP to Deus. The first hunt was a train wreck... 60 bottlecaps and 5 coins... I almost cried on the way home. From that point on, it got better and better. Once you know how a machine works (ie: numbers & sounds) , it is just a matter of learning the "new" sounds and numbers that the new machine produces. The CTX is an awesome machine, my buddy has one, so I see it all the time. I personally believe that it is the only machine better than a Deus... however, I am not often beaten by the CTX. The Deus is really easy to use... light, super fast, wireless and configurable.

You are being overly concerned... the Deus is WAY easier to use than the CTX. You will adapt to it WAY quicker than 80 hours, especially since you already have experience with detectors.

If there is anything that I can do for you, just PM me. GL&HH.

I say do not buy it, stay with one of the other detectors that way me and my baby (Deus) can get all the goodies if I ever go to your area!

LOL

Seriously you will love it.

Just received mine a few days ago...thanks again Bart...great experience dealing with you....but in a nutshell....unless I'm an idiot. ...the only good thing I have found that my ATP has missed, is a 1917 wheat penny. ...seems like all I dig, in basic mode, is large iron that comes in around 82-95....my ATP went over this crap.....any suggestions? Help. Thanks

Large iron will still sound off pretty good with the Deus. You can try running a lower frequency program next to the one you are already running, and switch back and forth to identify the iron more effectively. If your running the basic program, I would run a copy in the next open slot and then create the lower freq program in the next. I am sure someone can elaborate more one how to tell the difference using both programs.

I never tried this, but I learned by sound when I was over a coin or over a bottle cap. After digging hundreds of coins, I just new when i was over one, or if it was junk. Sometimes still shallow aluminum would sound really close to a coin. I dug more trash with the Deus, but I also pulled more nickels it seems and coins, that I would have missed with other detectors.

Thanks Point I will try that....I must say I've had more luck...found 10 or so coins yesterday in my grandmother's yard that I have pounded with my ATP. Really surprising how much deeper this thing goes. ..I ran in basic 1, turned up the reactivity to 3 and ran in tracking mode for GB.

Make sure u turn down the silencer to 0 or -1 any adjustments to reactivity changes the silencer automatically
