Timekiller's Back!

Guy's it was so nice out today and the weather sounds bad for awhile so I pounded the river.Anyway I took some pics. of what I look for such as the 1600's earthenware and things like shell piles and indian pottery.I had a great get out today and it felt good to get back in to some colonial stuff. My finds look like they will be neat when I get them cleaned up.I also took a pic. of a tree that is probably one of the biggest ones I know left around these parts. The pics. don't do it justice as I had nothing to use for size but my cigarette pack I stuck on the side of the trunk. It is a huge oak if you could see it in person.
Enjoy! :headbang: :hello:

Re: Timekiller's Back!

Nice haul you got there! I wouldn't mind killing time at that site!
You have some real early finds in there.
That river bed looks inviting with all those cool pieces lying there.
You must find prehistoric artifacts there as well.
Looking forward to your next post!
Dave.

Re: Timekiller's Back!

If i remember correctly I believe there was a rod near this and was probably what held it.But I thought it was just a piece of crab pot iron at the time. Not thinking didn't save it but I'll check next time I'm around that area. Also might be confusing it with another place seen to many now. :laughing9: Here is some of these things cleaned a little more.

Is that a broken three-pronged fish spear in your hand?
Nice follow up pictures!
Dave.
I'm thinking along those lines yes. :hello:

Re: Timekiller's Back!

Also this piece kept ringing up with the sound of a coin. But as you see not enough to know for sure but with what's left the thickness and weight and all I wouldn't be surprised if it weren't some kind.

Re: Timekiller's Back!

The Pete is back! The Indian pottery, Colonial pottery, and shoe buckle chape have my passion soaring. Thank you for sharing finds from the North Carolina shore.

Re: Timekiller's Back!

Pete, I see Spanish Colonial silver on your next hunt. It is going to be a cut silver! :headbang:

It is good to see you back on your Colonial horse and finding anything Colonial! Keep at it, my Colonial bud from NC!

I am banging my head off of the wall. The fields here are frozen and we are crossing our fingers for a hunt on Sunday at an old standby.

Re: Timekiller's Back!

Question, what type of buckle would this be? Yea I just have gotten back to tying to get this cleaned up.As I thought the day I found it it looked to be a buckle. But it is heavly incrusted in a sand and rust mix that is very hard.So I'm dissolving it away with acid.As I tried shocking this kind of deal before with not much success. The acid has done good before on these as it melts the sand and rust away slowly. But I've not found many plate buckles none really but have looked at a quite a few and don't recall seeing many made of iron like this.I have no other clue as to what it be other wise.As I'm seeing hooks showing up now and looks like a design might be under it as well.It was in the first pic. but was not much to look at and is still not yet.But was just wondering on some ideas as I contiue to work on it.

Re: Timekiller's Back!

Hello Timekiller. That round piece is from a parasol. The third pedulum looks like a match.

Re: Timekiller's Back!

Awesome finds! I am looking foward to hunting down there.

Re: Timekiller's Back!

Never ceases to amaze me the amount of investigative work people can do here and get good responses from. Wouldn't have even known what to look for on the clock weight and the parasol part is a pretty good for ID for a small part (although looking at it post-ID it makes perfect sense). Hope you can ID that bucke soon.
