She has ruined my TH for life! First time out she gets this. A gold coin. Not just a gold coin but 7 Diamonds, an amithyst and these cool faceted teardrop Peridot, and smokey quartz, . But A Gold coin! Did I say first time out? Well she had a few minutes on the Ace250 that she found this with. Maybe 15 tops. and this is her first detector. Took it right over to the Jewelry store and they said? Yep it's all real and worth about $500 or more. Dang now I need a new wife to detect with as this one is in the dog house with me. :o) Well here it is. Anyone know what the coin is?? The whole thing is 9g on the scale.

Thanks

UPDATE,
The coin is solid gold, Roman and said to be minted between 211-226 AD and if real (not a copy) could be worth thousands. We will be sending it in to be checked out ;D

Can you say "beginner's luck"...awesome piece of jewelry! It looks pristine...what type of site? I have no idea on the coin. I'd say it's a keeper...your wife and the jewelry.

HI,
She found it at the beach, We just live about a mile from it. We did not even do a 20ft area and she fount it. I was using a Elite and was finding nails at 10-12" bottle caps and everything else. But about 10-15 minutes and she comes over and drops this in my hand and says "I think It's real" Well after fealling the thump of the weight of it plop into my hand I thought "It is real" Well needless to say I looked very hard for the other one but, nope. Her little 250 is paid for and she has a nice prize for he trip to the beach. I know for shure I will not have any problem getting her to keep on THing ;D Just so you know we live in the seattle area.

Look's pretty sweet NW...Can you have your wife call mine and tell her what she's missing out on.Can't help you on the wife deal.....sorry.HH!!

If it is a Roman coin, and it's an earring, then there would have to be two, or at least two similar sized coins. So, it's either a repoduction or, you would hope, real and worth a lot more than the jeweler said.

Well the coin is not soldered to in any way it is secured inside. Now as to if it is a fake or not? The coins sides are worn and a little chewed in a spot on the edge. If this is a copy they chose a worn coin to do it?

If it's a repro, than it would look just like the original, meaning that it would look worn since they would probably be a cast of the original.? An expert is required.? I'm hoping it's for real.

did some lookin and came up with this? The face is right but the lady is wrong.

231-235 AD, denarius, Obv: IMP. ALEXANDER. PIVS. AVG. with a laureate and draped bust right of Alexander, Rx: PROVIDENTIA. AVG. with Annona standing left holding ears of corn above a modius with her right hand, she is looking down, in her left hand she holds an anchor

That is a great story....It is not that common to see Gold coins in earings. But I would have it checked out anyway and have the whole thing appraised.....Good luck Seeker

That was a funny post. You made me laugh. What a great way for her to start this hobby!
Congrats to her and I hope you catch up soon. ;D

That is awesome! She is probably hooked on the hobby. I hope you gently explained to her it's a find of a lifetime and that's no normal, LOL! HH and nice your wife detects with you, Mike PS- You didn't plant that under her coil did you, LOL! HH

WOW! If it's real I'd guess it worth more than $500. Try maybe $1,200 in that setting.

I'd start following her instructions if I were you. Hope she doesn't look for a new husband.
