This probably is the wrong place to post this but I put it here because this topic affects all beach go'ers and th'ers...

For those folks that live on the Treasure Coast (and more specifically in Indian River County)... can someone tell me when Indian River County became a concentration camp?!!

After the hurricanes, IRC put up chain link fencing all around the Wabasso Beach access, installed a monstrousity that looks like a prison watch tower, and keeps folks from having access to the beach "after hours". At numerous IRC parks, there are signs stating all the things you can't do on the beach... no fishing, no diving, and so on... ok so what's left to do on the beach?!! I went to go for an early morning walk to watch the sunrise and the park gates aren't being opened until well after sunrise (in many cases 8am or later). And now we have another step towards invading our rights...

A pole with a CCTV Camera has now been installed on the Dune at Turtle Trail Beach Access. WHY?!! I questioned a local law enforcement officer about this and he stated that it was John's Island that installed the camera. After much conversation and debate, the officer finally broke down and told me that it actually was IRC Parks Department that installed the camera. Why would he lie about this?!! It was also reasoned that this particular beach access was chosen to do this because it was not as heavily used as the others in the area and if they could "get away with" installing a CCTV Camera here without anyone complaining about it, then it would be easier to pass legislation to install these in all the beach accesses. Why are they doing this?!! If they are allowed to do this on one place, where does this stop?!!

I don't know how you all feel about this, but I don't believe that this is acceptable. We should have the right to go to the beach without being molested by the government "eye in the sky"... I have spoken to many others who agree and we will be speaking out through media and attending county commission meetings. I am tired of the rich controlling what goes on at the beach and i am tired of paying in tax dollars for the rich to have the homes shored up with crap fill sand because they chose to build someplace that should never have been built on in the first place. As far as i'm concerned, it is my fondest wish that Mother Nature wipes the slate clean and the beach goes back to being the way it was meant to be... a place devoid of privileged people... the beaches should be enjoyed by everyone!!

Have I lost my mind and am I fanatical... you better believe it and its about damn time! So why am I ranting on about this? I am just asking that anyone who feels the same way about these issues, please stand up and be counted. Go to the county meetings and be heard. Go to the newspapers and put in your 2 cents worth. Oh yeah, and if you happen to pass that CCTV Camera at Turtle Trail Beach access, give 'em a nice one finger wave... you know the finger...

Hi trashdude... yeah, they're called RFID's. Check into it... scary!

As a serving member of the National Guard, this sort of thing worries me deeply. It's oppression plain and simple. I'd say George Orwell was off by about 20 years. The government is using 9/11 as an excuse to keep an eye on all of us. Before anyone goes railing about Republicans, just remember that Democrats want to see you when you're sleeping and know when you're awake too! Everyone is so seduced by the sweet candy coating that the Democrats put on everything that they're up to, but the truth is that they're no better than the other side of the aisle once you strip away the sweet candy shell. At least Republicans have the integrity to flat-out tell you that they're gonna 5crew you! This goes beyond whatever party's in charge. I am so sick of the fear and paranoia and lies. And speaking of lies how about this? Here I sit in Iraq right now supposedly helping to protect YOUR freedom. Well? That's what you're being told aren't you. So far over here (and this is my second trip) I have found absolutely nothing having anything to do with our freedom at home. We're told that if we weren't fighting terror here then we'd be fighting it at home. I think we'd be fighting it at home anyway. We are making things better for the Iraqi People and the average guy-on-the street understands that over here. But WHY? It has nothing to do with anything at home. It all comes down to that black gooey stuff that can be found underground in certain parts of this place. I have no problem fighting a war and securing a country in order to have better access to oil. I perfectly understand that as a commercial and industrial nation that the US needs it. No problem with that whatsover. But for Pete's sake don't bu11sh1t me about it and don't bu11shit the American People about it either!!! I absolutely hate it when someone is p1551ng down by back and telling me it's raining!

What worries me to is when the paranoid morons in Washington decide to use me as an instrument to oppress the people that I am trying to protect. If Pelosi, Schumer, Lautenberg, Kennedy (he hasn't croaked yet?) and Sarah Brady get their way, they'd have me and my fellow Guardsmen going door-to-door to collect all of your guns. Or to come arrest you and haul you off because you engaged in "hate speech" and said mean things about someone based on religion, gender, ethnic heritage, or sexual orientation. If that day ever comes then that's the day I lay down my weapon and walk away. Our Bill of Rights has been legislated and regulated to the point that it's not worth much more than the paper it's written on. My enlistment oath says that I am to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. And the term "Constitution" refers to the People NOT the Government. All of the sacrifices made in life and limb to protect the people of our country is now a mockery and a laughingstock. I'd even go so far to say it was in vain considering the state of our country these days. But I serve the PEOPLE not those jacka55e5 in D.C.

I seem to remember 13 states awhile back who got tired of big goverment running their lives and decided to do something about it. They wound up losing but at least they had the collective ba11s to stand up and try and do somthing about it. And before that 13 colonies that got tired of oppression and taxes from an absentee government, so they did something about it and won so that they could be taxed and oppressed by a goverment of their own choosing.

Our government is broken, no question about it. There's not enough people around who have the courage and conviction to do anything about it. Most will give you the same tripe that you can fix it at the voting booth next election day. Not true! Our problems go beyond "fixing it at the voting booth" Everyone on an election ticket is DIRTY to some degree or other. If they weren't then they would want to be going to that Cesspool on the Potomac where our Country's supposedly ran from. There's a few honest politicians. They start out that way but when they get to D.C. they are told to fall in line with the rest of the crooks or they won't be back for a second term, if they're not run out of town over a juicy concocted scandal beforehand. The average politician doesn't care about the people. He or she only cares about three things: Getting on the juicy committees, hooking up with whatever lobbyists and corporate reps that can slide them the most cash under the table, and re-election. That's pretty much it.

I've had it with the way our country's being run and scared silly about where it's heading.

The problem is.........I don't really have any place better to go

Well, that's my rant for the month. OH yeah.....WRECK THE CAMERAS!!! (or at least get some nice insulated snips and clip the wire) You'll know it's working when they get cameras to watch the cameras to watch the cameras to watch the cameras etc., etc., etc.

How can you reasonably expect privacy on a public beach?

I say we need more cameras in public places like they do in the UK, especially in this day and age.

Our Representative Democracy is not broken, it works just like our founding fathers advertised.

Our Government is only as good as the people who take the time to study the issues and the candidates, and then go out and vote with there hearts and minds.

I for one don't have a problem with Govt. scrutiny in public spaces. I do however take issue with the old notion that our Govt. is based upon who we elect into office. This statement has never been true since we elect by proxy. That means who we elect has nothing to do with who may end up in office. I also wanna point out that our choices of candidates is severely controlled by who gets the legal money to run the largest campaign. If we did elect by popular vote instead of by proxy we'd probably be even worse off, having to follow a numskull who is elected by some 2501 votes as compared to second place who only got 2500 votes and that would be debateable due to the hanging chad theory. As far as what our founding fathers did was allot clearer nowadays then it was even back then. The history books say it was a revolution brought about because of Taxation without representation. True historians nowadays say that is all poppycock. The truth is the revolution was all about who was gonna run the show over here. The Elite rich of England or The elite rich of the New World Order. Seems to me that History hasn't been studied near enough by the common man, for if it had, we wouldn't be about to see it repeated.

Off topic, I know, But let's have a picture of that little rascal !!
And the shirt and where it is located.
Would a pinpoint metal detector pick it up ?
Imagine if you could take them all and attach them to the Canadian Geese heading south for the winter?
Or to bats in a large colony!
Oh the fun you could have !

I am working on getting a photo of an RFID... i'll keep you posted.

I would like to try that idea of attaching RFID's to numerous types of migratory critters and video the confused government lackies trying to keep up in their black helicopters that we paid for...

Well. I was speaking with my friend and local th'er about the camera on the beach situation and he went to the newspapers to speak his mind... needless to say, there is an article in the Treasure Coast papers about it now. That's what i'm talking about... action!! Excellent!! Thanks Steve... Phips

if you drive a Ford, you already know what is like to be chipped...

one with a cell transmitter right in the on-board computer...sends info back to Ford for research

I've never detected there but We're is the civil liberty lawyers when you need one. If its not going to put them on the front page they don't care. what about your television stations. they should have a reporter who handles things like this and finds out answers. You go through each station till somebody does a story on it. then if that don't work you go through the papers. Nobody should be able to own a beach. if you build on it then you have to put up with us ordinary people who use the beach... just might thought.

Welcome to the United States of Communism. It gets more and more like it every day. ::)
...Amen to that brother people just do not understand the more the Goverment protects us the more liberty we lose. And are we loseing it all in the name of trumped up fear...........==Jim==

I WONDER HOW OUR "WONDERFUL LEGISLATORS, GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS, & LAW ENFORCEMENT WOULD LIKE IT IF WE AS CITIZENS START FOLLOWING THEM AROUND WITH VIDEO CAMERAS? DON'T THINK THEY WOULD LIKE THE "INVASION" INTO THEIR BUSINESS & PRIVATE LIVES! SO WHY DO THEY THINK WE SHOULD ACCEPT THEIR INTRUSION INTO OURS?!!!!!!!!!!

Would everybody just try to get along?? Those RFID's were intended for illegals but they got mixed up on the racks.
The only way our country makes sense these days is if you can believe the following:
The 'WAR' is not a war at all, is nothing more than a (corporate) raid on the Treasury.
American Government, Press, and Religion, have become tools and possesions the corporate elite.
To control the "Blackstones" is to control the world.
Contemporary American politics is a direct result of the greed of the elite and their concentration of power/wealth and why we always have but one choice in a 2 party system and no 'even close' 3rd party.
Billioinaires are the embodiment of greed, it's in their interest to maintain the status quo.
Our forefathers won with sacrifice, tenacity, and guerilla tactics over the numerically and technically superior British, and when our modern enemies use the same tactics today our leaders whine,"The big poopies won't fight fair, Ohh waahhh".
My 6 greats Grandfather died in the Revolution, he had loaned the Treasury 100 lbs. of silver during a coinage shortage (my understanding is it was never repaid). It was mentioned in the 'coin book' a couple years ago. We are close to a point in the present that anywhere in the Declaration that the King is mentioned, American Government (or elite) can be substituted and it would once again become relevant to our present predicament. One of my ancestors (and myself) have been in every American war since the beginning, and to the present. and yet we forget and even disrespect that our brothers of whatever nationality can say the same.
Hopefully I am not banned for my expression, I beg forgiveness for this transgression. If you don't see me here no'mo' no'mo', I'm be headin' to my new home, Gitmo.
Iowas' getting cold anyway. (anybody got a place where I can hide??)
ALL IN ALL, JUST ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL....

why in the world would there be name calling in a thread about cameras at a beach ? I like public cameras they let me see areas without actually going there, like say the beach ! But the whole RFID thingy is way outta hand. Some people need to wake up to what may be started innocently enough without intentions of misuse but is non the less open to abuse. Like Tracking systems of any kind, even the ones from TNet in the form of cookies could be one day used against anyone of us. Asking who is behind any of these things nowadays is allot like asking who's actually in control of the U.S. or even the whole world. Noone actually knows ! :o

After reconsideration, I determined that first and only post was 1) A pervert looking for a partner or 2) Some cop who searched for posts about this subject in hopes of catching "perverts" like us posting on a website, since some of us actually dislike the idea of being spied on. In either case it was inappropriate, and I don't apologize for my reply. I also don't blame you for pulling it.

HOWEVER, on the subject of perverts, I've noticed single men sitting by themselves at some of the remote beach accesses.

Bill, I think it had to do with your remarks to one of our new members "Beach Patrol", and had nothing to do with perverts looking for action. Also, If you see me sitting by myself on a remote beach (as I often do), please remember that (A) I am not single, and (B), don't think for a minute that I am looking for anything but treasure. ;) LOL
