Well, I decided to do this, and even though I didn't buy the best equipment, a Quick Draw II Bounty Hunter, it was in my price range, I plan on doing the best I can with what I have. Tomorrow I"m going to a school, and several local parks to find how bad I really am at this. While it looks like a lot of fun, it also looks like it will take a lot of time to learn, but still should be fun.

So, wish me luck. The nube from Texas.

Welcome to the greatest hobby on Earth. I started out with the same detector and I live in NE TX myself and never went out that I did not find lots and lots of clad. There is a learning curve to every machine but if you stick with it you will know when it is a coin or not. I have found toys , coins, civil war bullets and much more with my BH. So just hang in there. The more you hunt the better you get at reading your detector and reading the areas that you are detecting in. The bottom line is: Have fun. And remember from an earlier post, this is very addicting!! ;D

Don't sweat it, my second detector was a BH TR 500, then I got a BH Big Bud. Did well with both of these and now keep the Big Bud as my back up. I used it a few weeks ago, still works fine. Good luck in this hobby--there are so many possibilities. Enjoy...HH
