The Treasure of Captain William Kidd.

? I smell Gold 😉
Thinking about this Lowe Fella, Is it Possible Lowe was an Alias of Kidd? Thinking about it. England sent everyone after him including the kitchen sink. What could a privateer of done to warrent such attention? I'm sure most Privateers were probably given a pretty long leash.. His transgressions must of surpassed anything the English thought anybody would do.
You never do hear much about the trial of Kidd. Pretty much caught fast trial and hanged. He must of done something so outrageos that even a possible bribe of all his treasure wasn't going to get him out of.
He must of been involved with St Paul Island and causing ships to intentionaly wreck.
The 2 maps with pretty detailed drawn Islands but with different headings.
That must of been the reason they hung him.
I guess pretty much conjecture. I guess you would have to believe Kidd would of Intenionall caused ships to wreck on reefs?

If you are seriously interested in the answers to your musings, I posted information on several reliable books on the subject. Kidd's trials were typical for the time - and that probably includes the suppression of exculpatory evidence. There is a volume in the Notable British Trials series about Kidd in court. And Dover reprinted The Tryal of Captain William Kidd for Murther & Piracy, edited by Don C. Seitz in a very affordable paperback edition. There's also:

Good luck to all,

Interesting, unfortunately I have found alot of books just to be simply unreliable

Probably been pretty much scraped clean by locals, probably a few spots left for someone with a trained eye.
Oh well, good luck on your quest

Seems a little far North. Why do you think Bell Island?...
I think maybe people have thinking about Kidd in the wrong way, I think peple see kid as plundering the seas of the Caribbean I think he was working North around St Paul Island most of the time. Probably fleeing South after the English caught on to what he was up to.

You hear so many stories of Kidd North of The Border, It must of been his area of operation.

Oh well most likely most of the gold is gone anyways, I am too dang old to go looking for the rest of it. So Good Luck.

Yes, there are many unreliable books out there. That's why I recommended good ones. There's a good reason Capt. Kidd and his ilk were called "Red Sea Men."

Good luck to all,

The Old Bookaroo
