Intersting and strange. I can't find anything on the 2 Frenchmen that were hung wih Kidd?
I have kind of gone away from Principe with my full concentratration on Rhode Island as the best possibity for something of value burried by Kidd or his associates.

Of Kidd's fellow crew-members, Darby Mullins was the only associate hanged with Captain Kidd. Gabriel Loffe, Able Owens, and Hugh Parrot who were also convicted of piracy, were all pardoned just prior to hanging.
I don't know the details of the two condemned Frenchmen.

In 1686, 45 French Calvinist families, or Huguenots, settled in East Greenwich, which is still called Frenchtown. However, the settlement was short-lived due to a land ownership dispute.

The second painting is Captain Kidd Aboard the "Adventure" Galley by Howard Pyle. Probably first published in a magazine, then it appeared in his classic Howard Pyle's Book of Pirates.

A wonderful artists and illustrator, Pyle's purpose wasn't historical accuracy. Note that Capt. Kidd is wearing a Roman legionnaire's sword (or, perhaps, Pyle used a Union Army artillery man's sword as a model).

The great N.C. Wyeth was a student of Pyle's. There is no better edition of Treasure island than the one with the Wyeth illustrations.

As for Capt. Kidd's mythical treasure, it is very important to keep in mind that his myriad troubles stemmed from the fact that he just wasn't a very successful privateer or pirate.

I personally have never seen a Kidd Treasure map of New England? Or for that matter ever heard of one. The Kidd Treasure legend is so all over the place, Probably 90% percect of it is Malarky.

I am more interested in The Treasure Of The Two Frenchmen.
I am convinced there is something burried in the New Greenwich area of Rhode Island.

Not yet, but I have it. I just need to figure out which map case I stored it in. I should be able to find it before the weekend. I only have a few more places left to check.
