Well friends...here it is. I have been to the mountaintop. Upon my arrival there, I see Mountainman2 (also a Jersey guy) who has also found four George Washington Inaugural buttons at one site. The folks on this website tell me they came in sets of four, so I feel a strange sense of completeness. There is still some sifting to do at this site, so who knows, maybe another will show its face, although I wouldn't bet on it.

A couple of questions for you all:
1. Is anybody aware of any others besides MM2 and myself that have found 4 of these?
2. Does the fact that the four are from one set increase the overall value? I would think so.
3. Can someone awaken me from this incredible dream? Thanks

As a 2nd generation antique dealer here is my opinion on your question on value.

A complete set is always worth more, obviously, but the fact that they can be well assumed to be from the ORIGINAL set is at a far superior level. But the icing on the cake is that you have a level of provenance, in that you created a history of your finds with your posts, which always adds creedence and ups their value.

Not knowing the world population of this particular button style, I'd say by having your complete AND original set, you have at least doubled their value, than if sold separately. And this may be a very conservative estimate.

Question for you guys...based upon what goldnow has written above, do you agree with what he says. I don't question his opinion at all, just kinda looking for a second (or third) opinion, if I interpreted what he said correctly, that could place a value of $40K or more on the set. I'd like to hear your thoughts....thanks!

You don't have to ask for "banner" with a find like that......that is just an awesome find.....I'm very jealous..... :headbang:

But, if you find another one....I'm coming over to find one myself...... :laughing9:

(p.s. are you growing these buttons in the celler hole..) :laughing9: :laughing9: :laughing9:

I would have to agree. Congrats on them!
