Well friends...here it is. I have been to the mountaintop. Upon my arrival there, I see Mountainman2 (also a Jersey guy) who has also found four George Washington Inaugural buttons at one site. The folks on this website tell me they came in sets of four, so I feel a strange sense of completeness. There is still some sifting to do at this site, so who knows, maybe another will show its face, although I wouldn't bet on it.

A couple of questions for you all:
1. Is anybody aware of any others besides MM2 and myself that have found 4 of these?
2. Does the fact that the four are from one set increase the overall value? I would think so.
3. Can someone awaken me from this incredible dream? Thanks

Well done on some sweet finds for sure. I'm sure you have accomplished something that few have done. You were blessed with a great site and your efforts have paid off well.
I wish you luck on your future endeavours. 8)

Blessed is not the word I would use. You are the chosen one !!!

Those four buttons would probably cross my mind every day for the rest of my life !
I have an eagle with star variety G.W. button that I found last fall, and I thought that I was proud. To find three more would be awsome !!!

WTG on those WAshington buttons. I would settle for just one of them.

Well, I'm loving the fact that I get to say I told ya so! I figured a whole coat had been tossed out when you found #2. Now excuse me while i wipe the drool off of everything. :o

You own the banner !

Well here is another congratulations on the finds of my life time. Glad to see you got number four! I hope they don't stop coming out of the ground for you. :notworthy: Although if you find to many more your going to start decreasing there value. :laughing9: Congratulations !

Way to go! The set is now complete!! Buttons of this calibre do not show up often. I wish to commend you for your persistence. You knew to keep at it, and it paid off!

I am curious, how close together were these buttons? What kind of site was this origionally - House, Tavern, etc? Also, you mention that you were sifting in order to find at least one of them. Why was this? Were they too deep to detect, or was iron/other metal in the way of the signal?

I am looking forward to seeing your article in W&E Magazine. Congratulations! Don't worry about waking, I can assure you that although your feet are not touching the floor, you are definatly not sleeping!

:icon_thumright: wow congrats , now how do you top this ?

As a 2nd generation antique dealer here is my opinion on your question on value.

A complete set is always worth more, obviously, but the fact that they can be well assumed to be from the ORIGINAL set is at a far superior level. But the icing on the cake is that you have a level of provenance, in that you created a history of your finds with your posts, which always adds creedence and ups their value.

Not knowing the world population of this particular button style, I'd say by having your complete AND original set, you have at least doubled their value, than if sold separately. And this may be a very conservative estimate.

Congrats on retrieving some great history! As been said, Now what are you going to do to beat this? Good job!! :headbang:

HOLY MOLY! :notworthy:WOW! maybe someday i will find one..but,the dream continues...
