I hope I entertained a few of you late on Saturday morning with my epic blow-out. Had an interesting week at work & too much to drink Friday, so sorry about that. My point is still valid & hopefully we should hear something soon from the Tnet owners on the 48hr rule. As it happened I was able to gather all my ID's & Cru'dad just dropped off all the Roman Coins (whilst on his way elsewhere), so for this occasion I can keep it neat.
This was our last day on this 22 acre field & we have covered about 65% of it before the Spring Barley got too long. 5 hours gridding produced one of our best May days on record:laughing7:;

GW Cuff-link:thumbsup:
Late 18th- Early 19th C Herefordshire Militia Button
Tudor Book Clasp
Coin Weight for a Gold Angel with St Micheal Spearing the Dragon (can't date it because the reverse is worn) Circa 1500-1600s
Gilt Leather Mount
Jetton
Worn 17th C Token
19th C Market Token
4 Roman Coins
3 Hammered
Celtic Copper-Core to a Silver Unit (Can't get a full ID)
Another SCEAT, same type as last hunt! - Never had this type, now 2, so this one we can give to the Land-owner. It will be the first sceat we have offered up.UPDATE, it was actually a Series E G2, so I now have 2 of the 4 varieties.

Very cool Leather Mount - ''JOHN HASTINGS 1759'' (Never seen one like it)

So another really great hunt!

UPDATE on Sceat;

It was actually a Series E G2, so I now have 2 of the 4 varieties.

I was thinking of giving it to the land-owner because I thought it was a double. Now I have it recorded & know its not, I'll have to re-consider what to do. Maybe, give them a few more better items instead??

That's wild! Congrats on the second variety

Great variety there. The hammered and the Sceat we will never find over here, but a lot of the buttons and the silvered urn cufflink could turn up over here. What is the John Hastings piece and is that date 1759?

Didn't remembered that weekend....:dontknow: Wonder why there are so little random losses? Is there anything known about the Saxon population in your area?
They were generally small & isolated. Grouped into an administrative 'Saxon Hundred'.

I have no idea, other than it was mounted on leather, so probably horse related. Also a medium rich family that paid for something I have never seen before.

FANTASTIC!! Finds like this are exciting! Congrats to you, Cru.

now wait--there's no "edit" button on posts anymore??!!

I was hoping to change that for the better, not for the worst. Because someone had a blow-out & tried to delete all their posts, so we all have to stuffer by not being able to change our first posts after 48hrs. Old school mass punishment.
Or you could deal with this issue & consult those that pay & contribute in a positive way.

PS. Still waiting for the nod.:thumbsup:
If it doesn't happen this week, I'm off the post my 'Today Finds' elsewhere.

I had to process some iron from my last hunt and went to add it to my post. No dice - super annoying. Honestly it's a loose/loose situation. You must post finds on the day or close to it, but all the finds need to be ready? There are so many variables that this policy completely blows up: identification, cleaning, and processing to name a few.

Taking away our ability to edit is dumb. I have to update content often... typically a spelling or grammar issue that I notice a few days after I post, or if I get a proper ID on something, or if I process iron through electrolysis and want to share photos. If people are deleting all their posts for some reason, they should just ban those people. Most of us are serious about sharing our finds, history and learning... not allowing us to edit really limits this.

Anyway, I sure hope they change it. You would be GREATLY missed here. You share stuff I would otherwise never get to see. You're one of the most knowledgeable members on here. I am constantly learning from your posts and information you give on others threads. I also understand where you're coming from because you're passionate about sharing what you and Crudad find and they're blocking you're ability to do that.

A GW cuff on your side of the pond...now your just showing off :laughing7: thanks for adding size content to those small hammered coins. Didn't realize how small they were
It's only how small some of them are, they vary a lot & these were some of the smallest.

I guess things move very slow when reversing rash decisions. I hope they hurry up & decide because it really does crimple my abitilty to accurately inform others of my IDs etc
