Owned an old 10ga. I had for a short time. Would shoot it once at New Years and only had turkey loads for it. OUCH!!! again only shot it once a year

How could you fire those without pain.
A friend had a Winchester 12g magnum and you just couldn't fire it without wincing in pain. Even holding it by your side off of the shoulder it was brutal. I used to love shooting back then but I only fired it about 4 or five times and that was enough.

A few of mine are chambered for 3 1/2 inch magnum shells, it helps to be a big guy.... absorb the shock! Recoil pads are very good in the 21st century too.
