In Queensland when we were there, (we didn't get hit when we were there with anything remotely like yours coming, thankfully we dodged 2 cyclones) but that calm is seriously eerie even though we got the edge of them with mad storms! They hit the coast but phew were between places.
Its like time stands still, you can almost imagine the clock stops ticking waiting for the go!
