The once great Red Arrow mine has fallen into dire straights...

After going to the Red Arrow site and reading the correspondence between the owner and the DRMS. It seems as though what wrong doing if any, was committed by the third party receiver after the owner was locked out. The "receiver" (not a miner) is suspected of trying to run merc in the roaster thinking it was a retort. The whole deal sounds like a business deal gone wrong. And once again the mining industry takes it in the wazoo thru bad press. I'd still sue the hedge fund and the receiver.

This is beginning to sound like the hedge fund and the receiver were waiting for these guys to get set-up and running then try and swindle them out of the mine in order to make money for themselves.

How old is the red arrow mine.

What we see all the time with old mines is old mercury contamination being called new.

Part of the cause of the dredging ban in calif is because of the old mercury from the hydraulic mining days even though its been proved that there has always mercury contamination in the rivers before mining.

around 1850s before mercury was used in calif for gold mining there was a scientific study of fish and other natural resources and fish taken during the study and still being tested and have been tested for mercury levels and the levels are the same as today.

Are you saying that swabs have been taken at local residences and have tested positive for the presence of highly elevated mercury??? Or are you just throwing a "what if" out there? On the second half of your statement, I did not say that the State falsified test results. What I did say was that the swabs that tested so very high were taken directly in physical mercury that was present. They then used those numbers to scare the pants off the locals and fed the information on to the 'eager for a hot story' newshound.

the Ricker

I'm sorry, I am simply repeating what I have read in local newspapers: the Cortez and Durango papers. They stated that samples had been taken and that they were being analyzed. I look forward to the results being made public. I'm not throwing anything out there at all that isn't being reported.

Nothing would make me happier to learn that this was much ado about nothing, and I would like to see the Red Arrow Mine return to its former glory.

The mine was claimed in the 1930's

Here is a link to Red Arrow's website. There is a really good reprint from "TRUE" magazine many years ago titled 'The Gold No One Can Hold'. Lots of history about how it was discovered.

May I compliment you sir for being so astute?!! The receiver was hand picked by the hedgefund and rubberstamped by the judge!!!
