The metalsearch end in Russia!

That's terrible. There's a ton of history in Russia... I read a ton of articles on this website when I was getting started metal detecting. The guy found some great things.
Metal Detecting in Russia

Pray the USA is NOT on the same path as them!

The only way they are going to get my detector: Is out of my cold dead hands!

The US has already stopped Metal Detecting in the areas that have any history. Unless some one finds a unique item (s) in an area that has not been closed off to the public then I do not see that happening. Most of the US history is in the NE, only thing to find elsewhere is lost modern stuff.

In Russia, 23.07.2013, the president signed the law, about a ban of search of coins and treasures, by means of metaldetectors. For the violation, guilty 6 years of prison and a penalty from 500000 rubles threaten!

Just another reason to not tell the world what you find.

Unless it not marasmus to declare the archeology subjects, all finds, which more than 100 years?

That's probably the only reason it was on their radar to begin with, is a bunch of "big red X's" that md'rs make themselves out to be. Or that the powers-that-be there got a lot inquiries over the years from people asking "is it legal to metal detect in Russia?" When you get enough of that, then YOU TELL ME what's going to happen next ?? They'll invent a law to "address this pressing issue". :tongue3:

And we all curse those bureaucrats who develop this stuff, w/o realizing it's starting with us making ourselves a big bullseye in need of attention and scrutiny.

The current rash of metal detecting "reality" shows does not help this situation either!

Don't accept that law and give up, state that metal detecting is a basic human right and and invite the
President to join you in the hobby. He does like treasure hunting too, right?

hey, it's only illegal to detect for "treasure" or "coins". So ... what's to stop someone from searching for other things? (like meteorites, or nuggets, or trash, etc...).

And another thought: I'm assuming that since this is a public law, that it's for public lands. I mean, in that case, it would be no different than "scary sounding arpa" (which has ominous fines and such too). Yet we all know that only applies to fed. lands, and doesn't subrograte down to private lands (or even cities or counties or states for that matter! Only fed. lands!). So perhaps this only applies to govt. lands, and thus you can still hunt farmers fields with permission, as they would be outside the scope. Eh?

In it also put that the president and the power, began to show not healthy interest to archaeological artifacts.

Violation of an occupation layer is imputed to the violator.
