The mature stoner: why are so many seniors smoking weed?

TNMountains: Haven't heard that in ten years, and ten seconds into it I was singin' along..never forgot a word. :laughing7:

OV, if it's any good, I'd buy that at $3 gr. all day long.

Don,t need a big bag of today,s weed, don,t need to roll up that big old fatty either.A little pin joint of today,s stuff will do the job. People don,t smoke the same amount they did in the 60-70s because you don,t have to to achieve the desired effect. The rant about today,s reefer being so potent is a false flag meant to uphold a negative opinion.

Weed has come a long, long ways in the past 40 years. Up until the mid-'70's weed was grown without concern for male/female's, so the Mexican/Colombian weed you bought was a mix of both sex's, and was full of seeds.

Then, they found that removing the males not only made it seedless,
but there were now higher concentrations of THC, and Sensimilla was
born.

Since that time, technology has improved with genetics, nutrients, etc.

Signal_Line: In my state (Wa.) marijuana is legal for recreational and
medical use. Every package in the bud store has been tested by
independent labs, and the standards are high. To be honest, I don't
believe there's any MJ street dealers left..there's no money in it.

If there was indeed an incidence where fentanyl was laced into MJ,
I'd lay 500/1 odds it was in a state where MJ has not been legalized
for recreational use.

Most folks here, especially older folks very quietly grow their own rather than buy from a street dealer.Small town, cops have better things to do than bust a old guy with a couple plants for his own use.

Same goes here. As a medical patient, I am allowed a certain number
of plants, and I've been raising my own now for nearly 15 years.

Some years back I caught a thief in our garage at about 3am, and since
it was Jan. and colderanhell, the deputy and I stepped into my heated
shop while he wrote up the report. He looked at my grow lights (nothing
under them at the time) and told me they are no longer concerned with
personal MJ grows. In other words, since none of what I grow ever leaves
my shop, I'm in good shape.

Six Blue Diesel babies born just today..

I think it was in Conn. They had a recall. I'm not making this up.

And since I'm on the subject, over half the people on medical marijuana experienced withdrawal sypmtoms. Serious anxiety attacks requiring medical help were the big one. It's something about the genetics that causes an imbalance in your system. Weed isn't natural anymore, almost all genetically modified.

How about that.all you recreational use oppossers, lets hear what you think.
I don't oppose the recreational use of either.

It has been suggested that I smoke weed for pain associated with arthritis and spinal stenosis. Ok dudes and dudettes, what has your experience been with MJ and pain?

Signal_line is correct, as it seems to be happening in Connecticut:

I don,t believe this as written, sounds more like someone took the fentanyl, then smoked marijuana,ODed on the Fentanyl and blamed it on the MJ.Can,t prove it,just my opinion.

I don't oppose the recreational use of either.
Nor do I.But some of the most vehement opposers of legalization of weed are ardent users of alcohol. Most often spouting their opinion with a Coors in the hand they use to condemn those damn pot heads.

Who suggested it? My experience is it eases the chronic pains associated with aging, those pains that while not completely unbearable, have a distinctly limiting factor on ordinary life. Such as Arthritis.Never had to deal with spinal stenosis, but my Dad did.

To me not that big a difference between 1970s weed and now, growing up in Florida I usually had the best that was available in the 70s Columbian, Panama Red, even when I went north for work I still was supplied by my friends in Florida.
Danged my friend, If I'd have known when I visited you those several years ago!

It is essentially legal in Virginia now, grew 3 plants (the limit) this past year. I won't ever smoke what I got out of that. Don't smoke it every night. But I was finally free to grow it! Gave me a time of final delight!

I'll be growing again this coming year, guess that more than a pound I got last year will go into the compost tumblers I have.....

My GP did, in a roundabout way, without saying it expressly.

I suggest you try the "lightest" strain for pain taking only a couple (2) puffs at first... and see.
Also some strains are better for pain than others so its important to do your homework prior to trial.

I will tell you this ahead of time...
MArijuana is not a "pain killer"... it is a pain "reliever".
Making pain tolerable / bearable... and for some it completely alleviates it.

Again it depends on the person AND the type / strain of marijuana ... each has its own "type"... this can take some time to fine tune until satisfied with results.

But... will be worth it in the end if you can find your personal "fix".

.... Get a dab rig and enjoy vaping 1 tiny piece of wax, eat some too.
Some of the high of smoking is depriving your brain of oxygen..

Withdrawal symptoms? If you just stopped drinking caffeinated coffee
would you experience any withdrawal symptoms? Hell yes you would.
In all my years of being around MJ, I have never heard of anyone
needing medical help to stop.

In my case, if I stopped completely it's very likely that the vicious
vertigo attacks would return. I'd rather chew glass than go through
another one.

Can it be addicting? Sure..so is your coffee.

Weed is not GMO...crossing one strain with another is not the same as
being genetically modified in a laboratory.
