THE IRON BOX: Now its mentioned, now its not

She didn't have a "pic" of the Iron Box.

Here is a photo from Ebay may be something similar? iron strong box 1800.jpg1800 strong box inside w lock & key.jpg

She said the torn pieces of paper were of no importance as they looked like pieces of receipts. So of course she placed no importance on the iron box. She was searching for evidence of the cipher codes and a "Key"

Which makes it all that curious that George L Hart would introduce Pauline Innis to Mr Otey for the sole purpose of having her see this iron box with that torn slip of paper with numbers randomly handwritten on its surface.
Another questionable aspect of the Beale Papers followup, the introduction of unrelated items brought into the saga to support the original story.

So what was the actual purpose of George L Hart taking Pauline Innis to Mr Otey to see this iron box and slip of paper of "no importance"?
Were they perpetuating a Beale treasure hoax based on Ward's dime novel pamphlet of 1885?

Justintime mentioned an iron box.

I don't remember him saying either, except it broke open when thrown in the back of a truck or trailer for scrap metal and thats when he found the DOI.

How ya been E? Missed Ya!

RM with the GRAVE SECRET during the CONFEDERATE WAR (1862 or so); Iron Box no longer "of interest"... ALL verbal "history" from 1862/3 (R. Morriss died in 1863).

Of the "Iron box no longer "of interest"", why did George L Hart go through the effort to meet Pauline Innis and introduced her to a Mr Otey (was this the Mr Otey mentioned in the Hart Papers) and have him show her an iron box?
Hart, it seems, considered this iron box "prop" important in bringing the story to Innis, even though the iron box is NEVER mentioned in the HART PAPERS.
