Today at the 'Berg
Well what can I say. When opportunity knocks you open the door. I'm not sure how much longer we are going to hunt at the "Iceberg". The experience with Don and Scott at Pleasant Hill campgroud that led to my first seated coin kinda has me looking at wanting to try focusing on older areas.
Granted, the 'Berg has produced a fair number of older coins, but there's SO MUCH ferrous in areas and so much trash that getting to deeper, older coins is hit and miss...and a LOT of work. Bob, Nate and I went back today to see what we could scrape up anyways...and the weather was unreal for December 29th...sunny and 47...
I kinda wandered around again, hoping for another run like last week (multiple halfs)
Ended up with 5 silver, oldest a 41 Merc. 30 or so wheats (oldest a 1910)
Two flattened wheats (were train tracks nearby)
Cool old junk ring and two more marbles. Large ID tag with number stamped on. Also dug a number of the old round pulltabs. No buffs today but two 1964 Jeffersons as well as some early clad. The two Mercs did come from one hole!!
HH all!!
