Let's liven tnet up a bit......
On the same trail as The Head behind Miner's Needle, a bit deeper in to the mountains, is The Heart. After making this video, I think this may be 100% natural, BUT I spent 2 days and a night there getting footage so, I had to do something with it :) Hopefully, it's something you guys/gals will enjoy. Happy early Valentines Day!

Nice heart all right. Whether or not it's natural, it still makes a nice marker. Interestingly, heart shaped rocks, small and large, are quite common.

Oh, I know. Nature has a way of making hearts and faces. Nice rocks. I had a similar collection until I had daughters. Too many hearts around now.......and pink, and glitter, and barbies and.....man I want to get in the mountains again.

Same here with having two teen daughters 👍

Looks like a shadow owl right below the heart. Do you have any photos?

Interesting.
I have hours of 4K video which can be freeze-framed for a high-def photo......
Ill take a look.
Thanks!!

I didnt plan on posting this but...... Im home alone today and bored and want to see if it gets any traction :) Its not "treasure" related, but it IS the Superstitions and I think its somewhat enjoyable. Im not going to give it its own thread because, as I said, its not necesarily treasure related, bit if someone stumbles across it here, they may find it useful for something.

For me this is the best part of treasure hunting/gold prospecting. I know that sometimes is forgot when gold fever sets in. But walking and exploring in places that those before us did is an honor. Loved the video and nice work.

Thanks man!
I appreciate the kind words. Looks like we're almost neighbors.....

That Utah guy, La Van Martineau, is considered an authority on native petroglyphs. As I recall, he ID's the spiral as meaning "spring nearby". Others have their own interpretations, but at your site, it seems like that could be the case.

Excellent job, enjoyed it very much. 🏆

I have a book of his called The Rocks Begin to Speak.
Here's what I can find in there:

One of his meanings has to do with the flood so, water related, at least in that case.
The other explinations were "going up" or "going down" depending on the direction of the spiral.

Hey thank you!
It feels like little reward when it only gets 25 views, lol.....but coming on tnet and getting "excellent jobs" makes it all worth it.

Yeah, I've got that book too. It's interesting, but I don't necessarily agree with all of it. Just like "treasure carvings", the true meaning was definitely known by the original carver, but later explanations may or may not agree. Modern natives are often asked about petroglyphs and give strong answers, but they aren't any closer to the source than you or I. An argument can be made that the elders have passed down those secrets through the generations. Maybe, maybe not.

Re the spiral, I seem to remember one of my Utah friends quoting Martineau about the spring interpretation. As you say, "water" was the theme. On the other hand, many natives define the symbol as referring to past migrations. I've heard an interpretation from a treasure seeker who claimed the spiral was an early European symbol used along with others as camouflage - only appearing to be native, but with a different meaning. In his opinion, it means, "all the stars in heaven", meaning great riches. All three of these answers - water, migration, gold - could be valid. Take your favorite.

Actually, the spiral symbol is very ancient and describes a vortex. Also has the same meaning with the swastika.

That's what I have seen: spiral symbol=vortex. I have been watching a series called "Skinwalker Ranch". I have no desire to get into the "alien thing" on this thread, but the petroglyph of a spiral was involved in an experiment. With that said, I think it was last season but don't quote me. It's the one where they invite a group of native Americans to play their songs/chants with their native instruments. The purpose was to elicit a response to the sounds they created with their chants/songs. This was done at night and FLIR was also used to observe for unusual "things" that might give off a heat signature. When these guys got started good: The Glyph lit up like a Christmas tree from the heat put off by the glyph itself!! This was repeatable if I remember right. The native there said the glyph=vortex=place of power. For what it's worth the scientists think there is actually a vortex (wormhole) close by.

Anything on the history channel is the claim that needs to be proven, not the proof. That channel is ummmmm not trustworthy, to put it lightly. Funny enough, I have 2 books on the Skinwalker Ranch (both written before the History Channel show started) and I took it seriously. I was absolutely intrigued. Now the History Channel is mucking it up with their fake drama, and I cant take it seriously anymore. Ruined. Just like Oak Island.

On to a more serious matter......
Can anyone show me somewhere that associates spirals with "vortexes?" Is that written down somewhere, told in a story, on tnet...? I'm curious. Sedona is known for that too and it's only a couple hour drive from the Sups area.
A water vortex is a spiral eh :) but that wouldn't apply here. Im leaning toward the book being correct so far. It was on a trail going up/down from a hill, just like the book says. As far as water.... you don't need a hidden petroglyph in the Sups to tell you where a spring is, which is the nearby water source in this area. You just need to look for the green area in a sea of brown. Usually, you can see the water from the trail below, however, it was dry the last time I was there and you couldn't see anything.....

I've been to a number of the Sedona vortex sites, and a couple of them did seem to have somewhat strange vibes. Our whole existence is a complex magnetic field, and we're only tuned to a small bandwidth of it, IMO. I'd like to believe the woo aspect of the spiral carvings vis-a-vis "treasure hunting", but I'm forced to stick with the physical parts of reality myself.

The guy I mentioned in Post #15, the treasure hunter, began his quest when he was given an old leather map from a Mexican who said it had been in his family for 400 years. The Mexican was allegedly sent to find this guy in particular, who had an Anglo name but closely resembled the well-known Apache Victorio.

The guy told me the map was set up like a chessboard with figures of saints positioned at certain locations. He used that map to track certain petroglyphs. He didn't show me the map, but he did show me a pocketful of dog-eared Polaroid photos of carvings of spirals. Spirals were his bread crumb trail. Here's an interesting photo of a panel of petroglyphs which was allegedly approaching the end of his search.

Same here. I was simply agreeing with Markmar and giving a back story as further proof/evidence. IMHO there's much lost knowledge the ancients had that modern man doesn't. I saw this as one example in video for others to see & judge for themselves.
Now I do like the bread crumb trail you mentioned and think it possibly has validity. I will continue researching along those lines of the use of spirals.
