Hey thanks! We're working tirelessly to find one. Sites like this don't come around often.

But I'm happy to have a belt plate for '09 already. I don't see us beating our 4 1/3 belt plate record this year though...but who knows?


The great thing about detecting, is if you consistently hunt sites where anything is possible, then just about anything can become a reality.

Thank you for the kind words. It is almost tick season again here. And I'm not looking forward to it. But the way I see it, I have to brave the ticks and the heat and humidity in the summer to make the finds. You can't find it if you don't look for it. 8)

The second to last picture.... could that blemish at the bottom possibly be from a bullet? And that may be why his uniform was on the ground?

Nope, more than likely that's a rusted through attachment point from the iron loop on the back. If look closely the ridges are toward the viewer rather than away. Now, if you're imagining a wound that might have done this, a shell splinter that came all the way through his body, from the back could produce a small hole like that, but I still think it just a result of rust eating through the metal, from the back.

That's exactly what it is. Iron attachment loop eating through the face of the plate a bit.
