Stoney...........made in Korea???? but an American name? You buying online? I used to.

The brand is Carnivals. I buy them from one of the local Indian tribal smoke shops. I used to also support them at the local casinos until 5 years ago, now I'm also going to cut into their tobacco sales. Hopefully this will not cause them to go on the warpath. ;)

Re: The GREAT TREASURE NET "SMOKE-OUT" (November 1, 2007)

I'm in hope to be strike it out from November 1st. Goodluck to all the other members participating in this worth while cause apparently its easier to quit for those smoking tobacco rather than those smoking cigarettes

Re: The GREAT TREASURE NET "SMOKE-OUT" (November 1, 2007)

I just saw this thread. I already stopped smoking on June 14th 2007. Dr. said I got heart problems so quit or die sooner than later. I'll still be with all of you in spirit on Nov. 1st. For those of you who wanna know how I did it after 35 years of puffin away P.M. me. ;)

Re: The GREAT TREASURE NET "SMOKE-OUT" (November 1, 2007)

The patch for me too. I only started a few years ago, when I was in my mid-30's, which is an unusual and stupid age to start. I hear your dreams can be scary if you leave the patch on overnight... anyone had experience with that?

I have used the patch before and made the mistake of sleeping with it on....I don't recommend it......

Follow the instructions that come with it... and make sure you get the correct dose!

No sleeping with it... that's bad! :) Also - they never recommend putting it on in the same place... rotate it... left upper arm, then right lower arm. The instructions will keep you outta danger :)

I've been off the filthy things since Jan 1st 2007, best thing I ever did. Congrats on having the guts to give it the flick.

When I was in Pulmonary Rehab last winter, they really stressed 'pursed lip breathing'. Breathe in count to 3....breathe out thru pursed lips count to 6. (seems the exhale is more inportant than the inhale)..Kinda like taking a drag and then exhaling, really. You can feel the constriction in your lungs when you slowly exhale, if you're doing it right.
I'm gonna do that, and gum drops :)
I tried the patch years ago, but had a thumping heart and I could not stay asleep for more than 1 hour.
You'd think that the toughest time to get thru without a cig would be morning coffee, after a meal ect. Not with me. The toughest place for me not to smoke is when I'm on the computer. I'm gonna beat this time, tho
;)

I hear you. Dump the ash tray at least once a day and the keyboard every 3-4 days. ;)

Re: The GREAT TREASURE NET "SMOKE-OUT" (November 1, 2007)

I wish you all the best and know that you can quit. I quit cold turkey after smoking 2 1/2 packs of Pall Mall non-filter per day for twenty five years. That was when hillary was promising us a $2.50 per pack tax increase and cartons were under $20. I have since been told i have borderline emphysema so it's a good thing I quit before it got worse. The worst will be the first three days. If you stop the next time you get a cold you will be over the worst of the withdrawl symptoms before you are over the cold. After that you only need to avoid subconsciously grabbing and lighting a smoke. Keep the smokes way out of reach and have no lighter handy. Keep the remainder of the last pack you bought. Tell yourself that you have to finish that pack before you buy a new pack. The older and nastier they get the less likely that you will want to use them. good luck and best regards, siegfried schlagrule

Re: The GREAT TREASURE NET "SMOKE-OUT" (November 1, 2007)

siegfried - Thanks... it's helpful to know others go through it too...

Ben - great post you had there about dumping the keyboard! LOL

I already promised my leftover smoks to Mrs. O. :)

Re: The GREAT TREASURE NET "SMOKE-OUT" (November 1, 2007)

I plan on trying what worked the one other time I stopped = just don't have that first cigarette of the day.

I recall I did have one or two smokes on the evening of the first day, but I was so impressed with my ability to not smoke for that whole day, it encouraged me to do it again the following day and then it really started to sink in. I think I was smoke free by day 3 or 4 - and then 18 months later!!! Doh!!

But now I thank Montana Jim,
it is definitely good timing and to share 'the pleasure' with a great bunch of like-minded people is an added bonus.

A couple of observations;
I think that's me at Lucky 13 on the list,
except, I'm trikikiwi - not what's there ;)

As I'm on the other side of the International Dateline from the US of A, When I get home from work at 6:00pm on the 1st November, it's still yesterday in LA and 1:00am in Miami.

I believe I can be "The First in the World on the List" to stop smoking ;D

"Group Hug"

I will be thinking of you all.
Cheers, Mike

PS. Is it cheating if you stop before the 1st? ::)
