The GOPs latest filibuster threat: Gun Control

In terms of gun control, I would suggest to give it a try...often once something is given a chance it eventually comes to some kind of middle ground solution!
I personally think using the (don't know the technical term) fingerprint solution would be best..that way no one except owner who has been screened can use it!!!!

The military has the technology. ..

Sounds prohibitively expensive...

The American people, really need to understand, these gun control bills will not protect anyone. It is a false promise, just like the
many many many empty promises from before. It is based on emotion not fact. Or reason.

WE cannot ignore that we used to have more freedom, that we are losing our freedoms at a very great rate, and we need to put a stop to this, now peacefully and legally.

well there was an election just a few months back. If the majority are worried they didn't show it.

Depends on how important solving the whole issue is..

I believe the issue is extremely important to about 21% of our country, so I would say, not that important.

Now if you were to say, "Why is our morality eroding to the point that violent video games may be responsible for Sandy Hook and other tragedies" , I think you all could get a little more traction!

And I hate to say it, But never give anything a try to see if it works out! That is a little bit out there.

Hey I think I will give everything I have to Jim Jones and move to Guyana! I mean,, let's try it, We can always go back if it doesn't work out!

Always think about your big moves, try to play out in your head the possible outcome of your actions. This isn't like drinking and driving!
This is kind of a big deal.

There was a vote difference of less than 5 million votes total (not even counting the voter irregularities) between the 2 candidate so not sure where you get "they didn't show it", almost half the voters voted for the other candidate....

Stockpicker is on this thread at my invitation....the thread starter.

I've been reading lots of articles on video games and violence on tv/movie. The overwhelming opinion by PhDs and MDs is that they have little impact on gun violence and should not be targeted by government control. I agree with this as well. That does not make this fact...just what the experts think. Dave, if you would like, the next time I come across another one I can post it up for you.

Squiggy, I have to agree with Dave44. This isn't the real issue at all. The real issue is the eroding society we live in, almost every behavior is viewed as acceptable as long as it is not practicing religion, personal responsibility, or any other moral behavior. The amount of crimes committed with a gun is such a small fraction of the guns in circulation that it is not even a valid argument. The guns are not the problem society is...

Crispin, how is the weather in Florida today? Awful here...Seeing as you live in Florida do you feel the crime rate is changing dramatically? After going through this last winter I am really fed up with snow and ready to sit by the pool instead.:laughing7:

Let me preface this by saying GOOD TO SEE YOU!
Well then Crispin, If this is the consensus, and these video games and violent films(I have heard this side too), are not playing any significant part, Why do we not see Joe camel anywhere?
Why do we not see alcohol ads and billboards. What is the purpose of these prohibitions? Whom are we saving? Why are baseball players being banned when there was no law against the drugs they may have used at the time? Who are we teaching a lesson to?

Our kids are being taught how to be a tool of the government, it has been going on for awhile and it is reaching a fever pitch!

I keep Hearing,,,, "for the kids" Why is there a film in schools teaching the kids that America is responsible for 9/11. This is another propaganda tool.

You don't understand one simple fact:

Once you surrender your rights, you will NEVER GET THEM BACK!!!

There's something about someone quoting their own posts / replying to their own posts, that just seems a bits fishy to me.

It was a little chilly today so I went out with the chainsaw and mowed down a couple acres...I figure that will warm things up for tomorrow. Most crimes in Florida are drug related. I don't blame anybody for packing heat in central florida. There are a lot of meth addicts; of course, they mostly kill each other.

Dave, I'm not going to answer those questions because I pretty much agree with you. Where we differ is that I don't see how todays government is any different then any others at any point in time. We both believe that US is the best country in the world. And we differ that I'm not worried about a government takeover.

So for the most part we agree, did I miss anything?

This is fundamentally untrue. The Brady Bill was repealed. I'm not the expert on this so I'll leave the rest to Stocky...

Uhm. Yes.
And about the government takeover,, Maybe you have forgotten What I told you? I am not afraid, I hope intelligent people will prevail. But I watch over my family and yours. Try to please be careful how you peg me?

Well, first of all I added a comment to my original post so if anyone was fishy it was your short sighted comment!
As far as I am concerned rigidity and black and white thinking are not a sign of good mental health. .

Now THAT brings the big question.. What are the signs of "good mental health" to You?
