I wish the next hunt was here. I didn't get much of a chance to hunt. kind of hard to do that when your MD isn't working the way it's supposed to. thanks for the tips and all your help, Evan. the etrac is already at minelab in Il. waiting to be fixed, so next year, maybe I can find some of that elusive silver

Dennis...For someone without a detector you sure found that emerald ring and the gold rim glasses fast....LOL....looking forward to hunting with you soon!

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Bill, I had my old Exploder II Sniffer could have hunted with. He said he wouldn't belittle himself to hunt with such a piece of trash......... ::) ::) ::) ::)

I did offer it, but he seemed to be doing ok without a detector.

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

I offered Dennis to use my brand new never used Garrett ATPro and even had my "how to" book to go with it. But I think he was too ashamed that his beloved Minelab wasn't working properly. I know a lot of you swear by Minelab detectors, but I had a new Safari and couldn't find doo doo with it. Not that I purposly hunt doo doo! But I always seem to find it no matter where I hunt! :laughing9: Anyway, I'm back to my favorite flavor, good old Garrett. But I have two Garretts, an ATPro and an ACE 250 as well as a White's, a Bounty Hunter and a Fisher, so you can't say I am prejudiced. I bought the ACE 250 as a backup detector and wound up using it as much as my go to machine. I personally think Garrett made treasure hunting history with the ACE series of detectors. Seems like everyone has one, is getting one or wishing they hadn't got rid of their ACE 250.
And to my buddy Jacob............I am sorry I didnn't get to visit with you much but the truth is I just couldn't keep up with you! But I think you did all right on your own this trip. What all did you find besides that spoon? That dirt in the field was like concrete wasn't it? (I loaned him my little sharp bladed shovel to dig with and he still could only scratch the surface! Did you guys get some rain to soften up the ground a little? I noticed nearly everyone wound up in the creek bed where it was soft. Did any of you find the spring and dig it out? Well, anyway, I'll see you sometime this fall when my leg has healed some and then maybe we can hunt together? Monty

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

THE "HI BOB" SAGA CONTINUES.....

Gotta give you credit, you did a great job on the name tag on the shirt!

Forgive me if I ramble. Can't hardly believe it is already over. Waited over a year between CTH 3 & 4. Now we sit and wait until the date for #5 to be announced. Mark, had a great time visiting with you. If I ever find myself in your neighborhood with time to detect, expect a phone call. Greg, thanks so much for the constant supply of drinks from your cooler in the back of the truck. Rick, it was fun. You and Albert are a tough act to follow. Dennis, what can I say. Hope to spend more time with you next year. Steve, hope your health holds up for another hunt. You can always do like Monty, show up anyway. We will visit more. Gypsy, you reputation precedes you. And it follows you. You have done a fantastic job of raising two of the most well mannered young ladies that most of us have seen for quite a while. Stay at it, they will be gone before you know it.

Stan and Vicki and all the other unsung heroes of the organizing force behind this great event, thanks ever so much for another flawless hunt. There is only one more thing we all could have asked for. Rain. I know, not your department. I hope the firewood was stacked nice enough to cover up and tolerate until next time. Maybe next year on a not so busy weekend, we can get our camping spot back next to the community center and burn it all in the firepit.

And to all the others, Mastereagle, Evy, Matthew, (what a well raised, well mannered and polite young man. Not sure who has taught him the ways of the world, but they are to be commended.

If I left anybody out, I am sure I will hear about it.

I did fine my oldest coin on this hunt, and my first seated quarter. There is probably more to squeeze out of the ground at the 4 calf ranch. Just need to add a little rain and some more time.

Now I am trying to figure out how to build a sifter for Gypsies creek bed.

Thanks everybody!

Bob

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Larry, the truth is, I didn't want to show you up with your own MD. LOL
Monty, I would have used yours, but I was trying to find out what was wrong with mine. I sent it in to Minelab last week, hopefully I'll have it back soon.
Bob, it was truly a pleasure to meet you. I don't think I thanked you for the ride, it was greatly appreciated, thank you

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Sniffer it wouldn't have taken much to show me up. You could have done that with a frisbee tied to a stick. Lol. :-)

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

How many folks has the Garrett ATPro besides Monty? I'm thinking seriously of getting this one as my next detector. Sure wish I could of tried one out at the hunt.

For those who didn't get a chance to see a close up of the spurs plaque. This is the pic sent to me via email from Kurt before the hunt. Totally awesome!!

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Judie I have the AT PRO, and I love it. I wish I had known I would have let you hunted with mine while we were up there. I had four of my detectors with me. That last day I hunted with my 2500 just to get it out. I think you will like the PRO. It takes some getting use to. The head phones I do use. I can do better with them on. I've also go the Water proof head phones just in case I decide to go into water with it.

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Larry, I think a frisbee tied to a stick would have worked better for me. I probably would've gotten a good repeatable signal. LOL
