Yesterday on my way to work I drove by the local Catholic School, and I noticed there had been some commotion with construction..... hmmm....
Early this morning I found myself asking a half dozen, non-English speaking workers for permission to detect. I’m not sure if they understood me at first, but once they saw my machine, they started yelling “Oro!”:laughing7:
There were two areas available to hunt, my head was spinning with all the clad at first...
It was the mulched playground and I guess common areas where $5.43 ultimately became mine.
My next area was directly behind the 1938 school, which had been paved over with asphalt in approximately 1948.
Boom! Let’s Do This!
3 hours and 53 coins later, I tapped out.
3 Buffaloes, 40 Wheats, 2 Wars, 2 Rosie’s, 5 Mercs, and a Big Girl Walker...:headbang:

Every coin minted before 1948, buried beneath pavement for 70 years....Outstanding!

So, the coins were overall pretty smoked, even the silvers were practically unrecognizable...
But yea, I tumbled the snot out of the shiney ones...

Based on my work and life schedule, this may have been a one hit wonder.... and I’m ok with that!

Thanks for looking!:hello:

Glad you were able to get right on it before it was too late. Lots of locations become available for a short time and then are lost forever. You had a great day and found some great finds. HH.

Yea, I know..... I’ve always been the guy poo-pooing the tumbler method...
But trust me, they were smoked and caked with tar and barely recognizable as silvers....
They look better now.
I used my wife’s cleaning solution for her Silversmithing, not sure what it is, but it worked pretty well....

Very nice hunt! I enjoyed the story too! Huge congrats on an amazing outing.....possibly once in a lifetime.:headbang:

Outstanding hunt BWD! Good thing you answered the door when opportunity knocked ! That is a lot of silver.

Congrats Dave. That is an impressive haul.

We have a school built in 1924, that has a parking lot (former schoolyard) built in the 1950s over it. We are all patciently waiting for the tear down to occur. I hope to have the same type of success that you had.

Best of luck to you sir!

Great hunt Dave. After a hunt such as this you'll need to change your name to HOOVER, because you vacuumed up that school yards silver. WTG Best of luck to you on your return trip there. You are going back?:notworthy: :icon_thumleft:

10 Silvers in one hunt is very respectable.
Excellent job. I would be watching that property for future construction projects.
Congratulations on your finds.
