I slipped out early on Saturday morning to meet Smittyman. The sunrise was nice, with a few little pink clouds.
Smittyman had acquired a permission for us, however after several hours in the sticker bushes, we decided to head to an easier place to hunt... and we were finding nothing but trash!
The second place was an old house site. There weren't many signals, as I suspect the place has been heavily hunted before. I got a 57 on the Deus, a little high for a nickel, but nice and strong. I figured that I would go ahead and rescue that pull tab. To my surprise a '46 Jefferson came out of the hole. I filled the hole in, and scanned again. This time there was a high tone!
I took a big scoop out of the hole, and saw this in the pile.
BINGO! The merc was hiding under the nickel. Ended up with a couple of wheats, the nickel and the merc.
Once again, digging the iffy signals produces a coin missed by the other hunter!
YTD silver coins: 47
Thanks for looking and best of luck on your hunts.
