Without getting bashed for starting another thread. Can i get some input on how these machines stack up on each other. I am pretty set on an at pro. But before i pull the trigger. I am trying to make damn sure its the best than i can afford because i wont be able to pick up another machine anytime soon.
I have read alot of good and bad about the atp. I have not really read anything negative about the g2. It is supposed to be killer in trashy areas out of the box, alot of people even talk about it being great for coin shooting even tho it is a higher frequency detector. I dont do much water detecting. But i have seen videos on youtube of a g2 hitting a 3 gram gold chain 4 inches deep in wet salt sand.
There is not a whole whole lot of info on the g2.
I mostly hunt woods. yards. parks. looking for anything good. not just coins. dont want to miss much....
alot of people claim amazing depth with the atp... detector wars on youtube ... treasure mountain guys i believe .. he has a test pit and the atp would not hit a silver quarter at 10 inchs in pro zero mode. not even a bleep.
I dont want to be leaving behind any quarters like that...
I plan on buying on monday. I keep getting putt off because i cant make up my mind.

If you don't want to spend the money for a new T-2, pick up a used one. They are said to be awesome detectors, especially if you're planning on hunting for relics. I just think the fact that you haven't bought the ATP, means that you want to try a different detector for awhile.

Yeah, basically an F75 missing like 2 things from the software/ menu- and the F75 is WELL RESPECTED!

I only have about 10 hours on mine, and I can tell already that I wouldn't trade it for anything, except maybe the all black one. Or a CTX 3030, just so I can sell it to buy another F-75 :)

I might pony up the bucks for an F75 or T2 at tax time next year, still a long way off. For now I'm content with the F5. Still learn something every time I go out with it and that matters a lot to me. So I'm ok with next March.

Learning your F-5 will make the possible transition to an F-75 easier. I jumped from a cheap Bounty Hunter to an Omega, and then to an F-75, all in about a 4 month period. BIG difference. I'm still getting used to my F-75, heck even my Omega.

I had the TEK.G2 for one hunting season did not like it for coins or around old cellar holes ..it picked up the tiniest of metals flacks and pieces...because of the G2 i had to buy a pin pointer to find the small pieces, was a waste of time around here....got the Tek. Omega now and that machine is deep works mush better here.

The G2 is only "The Bomb," if you are in certain situations, and trashy areas are not one of those situations. The G2 runs at 19.2 kHz which means it is going to be HYPER sensitive to iron, lead and Gold - because it is a gold nugget shooter. You should be looking at the "T2" running at 13 kHz if you are comparing the machines to the AT Pro which runs at 15 kHz. Just sayin..

what would you consider a small nugget less then a gram?

Most folks that I prospect with consider 3-7 grain pieces as "pickers," and I personally consider anything less than a gram as a "picker." Small nuggets would be 1-4 grams in my book.

i bought an atp . i already had a pro pointer in the drawer. figured i would just go with what i know. then after this comes in the mail. hopefully later down the road i will be able to try out a couple higher end detectors against the atp and see how it fairs for me. thanks for those with genuine input. but it gets old seeing the same names in every single thread. i wonder how some of the people on here get any treasure hunting done.

Easy, we can't be out all the time, especially at night, so we have to get our treasure hunting fix through others finds. Call it a 'Second hand find' if you will.

So you think you're going to get a satisfactory answer? LOL!

The Tek users will say get the G2 the ATP users...well what do you think their answer is going to be?
I know I know, you want responses from those that have used each and every machine you want to compare...good luck!

You keep saying..."I'm pretty sure I'm getting the ATP"...hell you even have it in your profile!

Just buy one! I'm sure they're both fine detectors. But it won't matter because you'll just be wondering if you made the right decision anyway and wonder if the grass is really greener! It's not BTW, just a different shade!

Good luck!

True story. The thing is, people want the deepest detector ever, but really, ive only found decent targets at 8 inches or less. Most of the times theyre At about 2-4 inches. Even people with the 2k detectors that shoot 3 feet deep or whatever will say they dig most between 2-4. Once in a great while ill get a really deep target, but not as much as people think. The AT Pro works for me in my location. Everyone is different, go with what you think you will enjoy. Remember that digging 18 inch.deep holes over and over to find a nail gets old really fast. Good luck!

could you imagine how hard it would be to metal detect gold pan or anything else in a wheel chair

There are guys on this site who detect from wheel chairs I've been in one 2 times @ 6-9 months each time never tried to detect but I think that shows great dedication to the hobby the guys who do detect from there chairs

Lol that's a good question
