Feel free to post yours here also......

OK started cleaning out some shelves hoping I might need the room. I stuff everything into a book case then frame it and store it away. Most of you have seen my little river and field hunts some I never posted though. Nothing spectacular but all found by me. I did not get all the tools in there like scrapers, choppers mortars and pestles. A couple of the good ones went into some locked frames I lost the keys to and did not want to unscrew them to get to them. : ) If I am lucky I might get one more frame this year.
Thanks to everyone for inspiring me to get out for that next hunt. Have enjoyed sharing. My goal is to have fun and it has been that.

Feel free to post your yearly totals so far its fun to see all of them again !

Regards,

Modified: Ok, did open one frame to get the lostlake and some uni tools and spikes out from earlier this year :icon_sunny:

Hey Tn, what's that nice red and black flint(maybe chert) material, i like that stuff. Sweet little bifurcated kirk in the latest photo.

mamabear, are you seeing any flakes / chips? when you do, really slow down and take your time, they're out there. I remember a picture of your yard awhile back and a nice pond, is it spring fed?

I know they are there. I can hear them laughing at me just like the fish! I have found an area producing chips & flakes, but so far no keepers. No, the lake isn't spring fed. but there are still some good bass in it.

The best are what comes from the home place. Most people would give anything to find things on the family farm. You got some great stuff. Very nice and thanks for showing and sharing.

Dorkfish,

In frame 11 of your first series of pics, those three pointed things sure look like turkey spurs. I love all the bone pieces you have.
Tn, Greg-Rocks, Thirty7, larsen, Uniface, and where's Neanderthal I should call you guys Sir or Mister. Maybe even Dr. You guys should start a museum. Man ya'll are really prolific. :notworthy:
I definitely need to get out more.

Bravo, yeah those are Turkey Spurs. We find a lot of those on our Ft Ancient sites and some of them show evidence of being used. I have a buddy that has a couple that have cut marks and grooves around the ends like they were lashed to something. We always figured that maybe a bunch of them were tie to a stick and used as a weapon.

Great finds by everyone so far. Hopefully a few more will get on and post theirs as well.

Dorkfish,

They would make a wicked weapon for sure. My wifes' Dad had some out in his shop that were cut off with the leg bone (about 1/8" on both sides of the spur) and strung on a string for a necklace.

All collections submitted, still have my jaw on the floor. :headbang: :notworthy:

Bravo

You have the Rio-Grande turkey right? Same as Oklahoma. Fla has the Merriam and we have the Eastern. So Dorks is probably spurs from the Eastern ?

This is a small part of what I have found this year, but it is some of my better finds. All of these were found in fields in Sumter County, GA. Probably half of them came from the same field. I have lots more medium to small points but they are not in frames (in fact these shown are not in frames) but I keep each artifact in a snack bag with the name of the field and the date found.

I was wondering where you were also. You have found some great pieces this year. Are some of them as large as they look??

Great finds Bravo and Americus, it's nice to see local types and lithics. Still lots o time to fill some frames, water coming down, harvest time coming soon, things are looking good.

Yep me getting with you on some primitive weaponry for a hunt. I wish you and Greg would try the same thing.

I'm considering it Tn, it's looking like extra doe this year because of overpopulation. I need to start shooting the bow.

Americus,
Great looking assortment.
Love the way your stuff looks on the ???. What is it? Can't explain it, but the material makes your finds look extra nice.
I'm gonna try it, but I won't show anything here on it. Kinda like your copyrite. Should be protected. :laughing7:
Are the greenish hues from being in water? Beautiful.

Yes. These are most of the bigger finds that I have had this year. The point in the first picture in the middle is 5 1/4 inches long. I was very, very happy when I found it.

BW

What you see as greenish hues are actually dark mineral deposits that are on some of the points.
