SWEET LIL' SILVER!!

I have been rock pickin this field for years but just recently discovered an old homesite in the far corner of it. I was pleasently surprised when flat buttons started to pop out. Got a real faint signal, reading was a 44 to 46 on the F5, then seen the beautiful site of silver. After gettin home and cleanin it up found out it's a cuff button with a back mark of S&R BEST Cincinnati.. I believe it's from 1812-1815 from the research i've done..HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL.... HH

It doesn't surprise me it's American made because I've seen a lot of British silver cufflinks and don't recall any with a makers mark around he edge like that.

Where do they put there maker's mark's at IP? If it would'nt have had cincy on it I would'nt have thgt any diff.

When they have a mark it's a stamp, just like hallmarks. I've seen a lot of early British cufflinks and don't think I've seen a single one like yours... so it struck me funny, but made sense it being American made. Were they usually made that early during the early 1800s in the United States, that's something I do not know because I haven't seen enough to draw an opinion.

Thanx for the info IP. I know all the other buttons I found at this site are prob british because of the way they spell COLOUR. Just guessin. HH
