SUPREME COURT: Police Can Force Open Your Mouth And Swab Your DNA

Recent supreme court decision gives police that right if they wish.....

It is wide open for abuse by hundreds of thousands of police, it will take years for a test case to go before the SC...

Of course no police have ever exceeded their authority, never stretched the truth to get a conviction, never lied about what happen.....

It is a violation of our 4th amendment now just waiting to be abused.

I still don't see the difference between this and finger printing. DNA does not provide "more information" unless you may a bundle to have it done. Also, fingerprints can be run through a database almost instantly. It takes an average of about a month to get DNA results back. 99.9% of DNA is wasted space and a mystery as to why it is there. The 0.1% of codons that express genes are very difficult to find. That is why it is hard to cure genetic diseases...we can't see through all the fog.

I would rather have a swab then a set of fingerprints. Besides, you can always claim you were kissing somebody prior to the swab or shared food with somebody...reasonable doubt as to how somebody elses DNA got in your mouth. Use your imagination...lol. I see this as an advancement of technology to help protect the innocent. Cops are going to be corrupt no matter what (no offense to any one cop in particular.) This is not going to stop them from being corrupt...might even make it harder to frame people as DNA evidence can't be planted.

It is amazing how some willingly give away their rights and freedoms! :banghead:
