Supreme Court overturns Chevron decision

Normally, a court challenge to an administrative agency’s interpretation of a statutory term that is not specifically defined in the statute itself could be determined by a court with no deference to a particular agency’s determination.

Chevron deference is the idea that the courts should defer to administrative agencies when it comes to regulatory decisions regarding those agencies’ areas of expertise, provided they’ve followed the proper rulemaking procedures.
